More Champagne! More Terrain!
Looks like we’ve outdone ourselves again, friends: It’s a knee-deep powder day in the Boat! With an incredible best-day-yet powder day yesterday, I thought it would be hard to beat that again today. But Mother Nature brought Christmas to Steamboat early! Today’s reported 10.5 inches matched with yesterday’s 12″ left us the lightest, bubbliest, blower powder day only Steamboat skiers can attest to.
Our First Tracks sold out this morning, which wasn’t a surprise at all. I hurried up the gondola with the rest of the eager early morning skiers to see what had been generously dropped out of the sky overnight and since the mountain closed yesterday. Shouts of excitement filled the air as the group of First Tracks skiers made their way down to Sundown Express chairlift.
I quickly jumped off the lift and made my way toward Three O’Clock and Twilight. I was greeted by knee-deep powder all throughout the beautiful aspen trees perfectly dispersed for our powder-weaving pleasure. As Kevin said yesterday, today’s pictures are worth a thousand words!
The best news I can report is that it’s STILL DUMPING at the top of the mountain! The temps are cold and the wind is light, so be sure to bundle up and be prepared to not want to go in! There’s too much snow to enjoy!
Be sure to check out the new terrain open today! Morningside lift opens with access to Cowboy Coffee, Bailout, Frying Pan, Rooster, Huevos, Morningside Lift Line, Snooze Bar and Alarm Clock. Front of the mountain new trail openings include upper Concentration, Kit, Fawn, South Peak Flats, Swinger, Bear Claw, Beeline, Huffman’s, Rowel, Traverse, High Line, Chute I, Chute II and Chute III.
Stay warm, stay excited and keep smiling!
