Taking a Bow
As we pull the curtain on yet another winter season in Steamboat, it’s hard not to feel a little sentimental. This has been another year filled with powder days and others better served by the sweet sensation of snowy corduroy.
The end of the season also brings with it some incredible entertainment and fun activities. Today plays host to the Splashdown Pond Skim on Headwall at the base of the ski area. The best viewing area for this event is Gondola Square. This one-division event has skiers and riders, men and women, children and the elderly all competing head to head in what is always a hilarious good time.
Following that, the grand farewell party includes a free live concert with Robert Randolph & the Family Band on the Steamboat Stage. Randolph’s steel guitar technique has earned him fans and accolades around the world. And at 3:30 p.m. today, he graces Steamboat with a musical party for the memory books.
So as I post my last update for the 2017-18 season, I wish you a tremendous summer to come. I’ll think back on this winter with fondness, and I have already started to look ahead to next season. Here’s to warm, sunny days in the coming weeks and snowy, powder-caked days next winter.
