FREE Never Ever Lesson, FREE Beginner Ticket and FREE Rentals Part of the NSAA’s National Program
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-January 5, 2016-Steamboat joins 160 resorts from across the country in attempting to set the World Record for the LARGEST multi-venue ski lesson and snowboard lesson ever taught; and, it’s absolutely FREE on this Friday, January 8, 2016.
“There’s never been a better time to learn to ski or snowboard,” said Nelson Wingard, director of the Steamboat SnowSports School. “A lifetime of enjoyment starts with your first turn and it’s absolutely free as part of the World’s Largest Ski and Snowboard lessons this Friday.”
The Guinness Book of World Records attempt is the “unofficial” kick off for the National Ski Areas Association’s Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. As part of this effort, Steamboat will offer a free ski and snowboard never-ever lessons including a free beginner lift ticket and free rental equipment from Steamboat Ski & Sport for ages 1st grade and up. The program runs from 10am until noon and meets at the SnowSports School’s red school house just off the promenade in the base area.
“Learning under the direction of trained professionals ensures you start off on the right foot whether as part of the World Largest lesson or anytime throughout the season,” continued Wingard. “Steamboat’s lessons build confidence while you learn in a safe, controlled, terrain-based environment with instructors that guide you every step of the way.”
Never-Ever participants must book their space in advance for this special lesson over the phone with SnowSports School at 1-800-299-5017 or in person at the Ticket Office before 9am Friday morning. The SnowSports School reservation center and ticket office are both available daily from 8am to 5pm.
“Who wouldn’t want to be part of a record setting event like this,” said Mary Jo Tarallo, director for Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. “If anyone even thought about trying skiing or snowboarding, this is the time to do it.”
The current record for the largest ski lesson and the largest snowboard lesson is about 500 for an individual location. “We are hoping that one location can top that but, as far as we know, there is no record for multiple sites,” continued Tarallo. The time zone that has the most participants will be the big winner and results will be announced after the Guinness organization can officially tally the results.”
The Steamboat SnowSports School is comprised of Professional Ski Instructors of America, American Association of Snowboard Instructors, winter Olympians, national team members and more than 550 instructors trained in the latest on-snow teaching techniques. Make your first turn towards a sport that will last you a lifetime.
