“Sarah has focused her professional career on the youth of the Yampa Valley,” said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “Through all her community giving, activism and personal determination, she embodies the can-do spirit and personal characteristics of Hazie Werner: hard working, welcoming, unassuming and generous to all who cross her path.”

Sarah Floyd will become the 26th woman honored with the Hazie Werner Award for Excellence. Currently, Floyd serves as director of athletics for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. Bringing with her a deep-rooted commitment and love of the Yampa Valley, she has championed for children throughout her career, ensuring they have positive role models and serves as a beacon for a brighter future.

For the past 14 years, Floyd has held the position of athletic director for the Club and prior to that was manager of the Kids’ Vacation Center at the Steamboat Ski Resort for over a decade. In both roles, she quietly pursued excellence and wholeheartedly jumped in when a need was identified and worked tirelessly to achieve the best for the kids of this community. Through her actions, many wonderful changes for the children of the community have come about.

In traits that ring true to Hazie, Floyd has offered her skills and expertise to hundreds of community members and families in a welcoming attitude and with a genuine interest.  Never one to ask for recognition, she pushes ahead every day in an effort to make a difference in the lives of children and help guide them through the challenges faced and on to a future full of opportunities, whether in athletics or life.

A reception will take place from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday, February 23rd at Haymaker.
