There is nothing more romantic than sipping hot chocolate with your honey in front of the fire in a ski lodge after a day of powder skiing.  A couple of inches of fresh snow overnight and skiing with the Mr. this morning is my definition of love.

We were greeted by sunshine, wispy clouds, and sparkling fresh snow on our ski date this morning. After a couple of quick turns down a neatly groomed Buddy’s Run, we traversed across Crowtrack and over to the trees next to Big Meadow. If you are looking for the best powder today, grab your honey and head into the trees.  A bit of wind yesterday swept the powder into piles in the woods.  Big Meadow to Flying Z trees with the Mr. skied like a dream. I watched the Mr. slash through fluffy powder pillows and launch off the cat tracks.

The best thing about skiing with your honey is pushing yourself to impress the other half.  In true form, we agreed to ski Chute Three, which just opened this morning. The Mr. headed down a narrow gap between the trees and I watched as he made tight turns down the steep terrain.  Impressed, I followed and pushed myself to ski it just as well. The lower down the Chute we skied, the better the snow. The Mr. found an impressive rock and launched it. I was not as brave, but snapped the photo below.  The trees at the bottom of Christmas Tree Bowl West were a dream. This is where we found the best snow on the mountain. We laughed our way down Flying Z to the bottom and enjoyed spending the time together.

As of today 92% of the terrain on the mountain is open! There are some great runs opening today including:

Big Foot
Main Drag
Concentration Upper
Kuus’ Cruse Lower
No Names
Christmas Tree Bowl
Chute III
First Chance

Want to take that special someone on a really romantic adventure he or she will never forget? Whisk your honey up the gondola where you will be greeted by a romantic sleigh ride to Ragnar’s restaurant.  You and your honey will dine on a five-course meal with a Scandinavian flair.  A lovely wine list and chocolate fondue for dessert were the icing on the cake.  One-on-one time in a remote ski lodge while watching it snow and dining on the most exquisite meal will deepen your love and make a great Steamboat memory.  I highly recommend it!

Sending love from Steamboat,
