Hey, regarding load a 'profile' picture. It took me 2 or 3 times to make it work. Keep trying. I don't know if it there server or maybe there is a lot of internet traffic today that is causing problems. Good luck.
P.S. I enjoy the photo you posted - awesome photo.
Yes but still no go, must be a bug in the system got into the photo section no problem, by the way if memory serves me right it was your excellent advice on creating a DVD using Windows Movie Maker, it helped me create my own masterpiece !!!!!
Hello Mike! Yes, looks great: am still trying to "find my way around"... But have got as far as uploading a profile picture and a few videos. Not bad going, since we just got back from a weekend in Poland (alas, not skiing) less than two hours ago... Hope that you are well :-)
Dominic and I were "chaperoning" a group of 16-19 year old athletes at a sporting event: so it was a hectic few days in Poland... No snow, though: about the same temperature as here (we flew into Poznan and went to Leszno). Yes, we are back in Steamboat again, but early this year (beginning of January). Would have liked to have gone back in early February again, but need to get back to the UK for various commitments.
Mike, have you tried a different JPEG to see if it picture related? If there is anyway I can help, let me know. Maybe, it you send a private message (comment) to Marlene or James, they may be able to help (if they get a minute freed up). Also, you may want to open up a discussion to see if anyone else is having the same kind of problems (and maybe a possible solution).
Yes, last year was really fabulous - our best visit yet. Although, to be honest, each and every year just seems to get better and better... Last year we had some great powder (and did the Powder Cats too) and some great groomer days too: fantastic combination. Our confidence increased in powder and we got new skis which are fantastic. So am definitely hoping for a great year, again, this year. Couldn't imagine a bad one though :-)
Are you just going to Steamboat or visiting any additional Colorado resorts during your trip?
Job isn't going anymore - I left. It was interesting for a while, but working full time was too much. I think that we (both Dominic and I) had been spoilt when I had been working flexible part time for Dominic's company: the flexibility and free time had been incredibly useful. So I am back to working for his company and life is a bit more balanced again.
We are hoping to stay at Bear Claw again (6th year in a row), but are booking rather late this year (had to wait on a few things before we could book) - so are still awaiting to hear back whether they can accomodate us...
I certainly couldn't imagine a bad trip to Steamboat... so far we have been lucky and all of the mountain has been opened up by the time we have got there in early January (when we have gone at that time before).
We were lucky and bought new skis last year: it is amazing what a difference new skis can make. I guess it is a mixture of ski technology progressing and our techniques improving/changing (so a change in skis can better suit the progress we have made). I also had new boots last year: necessity rather than choice (my old ones were leaking :-( ). Husband was thinking about new boots this year - we will see.
If you DO decide on getting new skis this year, I can recommend demo'ing from the Yurt (at Thunderhead): they were fantastic last year. They take the cost of the demo'ing off of any purchase, their prices were competitive, the guys there were really lovely and helpful, they allowed us to demo free for an extra half day (to make that final decision) and they could get extra stock from the base area if required. Best of all was their location: it was so easy to go there to switch over to another pair of skis, then shoot out and be on a variety of terrain in moments...
Haven't thought about Powder Cats yet (we were literally only certain that we could make the trip to Steamboat on this past Friday... :-o ). Will have to start thinking and counting the pennies...
I see that you have a nice profile picture up now. Thank you for the compliment about the photos. I will put some more up later (2007). It took a while to work out the photo upload system on here...
It was good to do the job for a while: I learnt some things and it was interesting. Long term it wasn't for me, though. Still, that means more time thinking about Steamboat :-)
Yes, I wrote an article on using MM to create videoes. I don't remember discussing on loading it to a DVD although I believe that is one of the options. Anyway, congrats on making the video. Is the video you created a ski video and if so, are you going to post it to the video section?
Thanks for that - no it doesn't tell me that you have commented back.
This site is a BIT like facebook - so I find it fairly easy to pick up - but every so often (like comments back on photos and uploading photos) things are a bit different...
If you click on "view thread" under this comment made by me (on your page) you will see the whole thread of comments made by you to me and me to you: makes reading the "conversation" a lot easier. Boo
Ha, ha... too true - that "strange" man seems to follow me ALL OVER the mountain...
I think that the "replying to a comment under a photo" thing (i.e. not letting me know that you have replied to a comment of mine) is a bug/feature/ommission of this social networking site. In facebook it WOULD let me know that you had replied to a comment of mine, it just doesn't here...
I have had to give up "late night coffee" - it keeps me awake... I had a coffee on Friday night and it kept me awake until after 1am - I had to get up just before 6am, so that was a bad move...
Whatever you do for a living now (I can't remember), please throw it all in and take up being a professional photographer: all of your photos are just amazing...
Ah.... which agricultural company is that? Husband's company does quite a lot of work for Sparex (agricultural parts supplier). Really excellent photos - definitely worth of "Photo of the Day".
i think we are going to the Sheraton for the Christmas buffet. Others have suggested the Ore House, Cafe Diva alos. Yes book ahead of time. thats what i will be doing next week.
Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.
Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December.
Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.
I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast?
Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?

Also the fact that he's from my home town and I have a few mates that know him endears him to me more!
