Oh to be a kid again!
Adventure, laughs, games and fun are all in a normal day at the Kids' Vacation Center here in Steamboat Springs. The Kids' Adventure Club operated by Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation has been making local and visiting kids days a little more exciting since 1963.
My first time to KVC was yesterday where I was greeted by their incredible staff, who were throughly informed of any allergies, medication and any other odd habits I might have. I was soon immersed in a reading-circle, puzzle making, crafts and a good ‘old lounge on a bean bag.
After a silly game of names and funny gestures, it was snack time. Yes! I’ve always missed an excuse to eat graham crackers at 9:30 in the morning. Soon after snack, kids are lathered up in sunscreen and ready for the day of various activities and adventure.
When signing in at KVC, kids ages 3-12 are divided into groups based on age and have varying daily activities and interests. Yesterday’s included field games in the morning for some and kayaking in the afternoon. For another group, a trip to Steamboat Lake for a day of fun in the water and finally a relaxing moment in any of our fine public parks. Other activities include yoga, slip’n slide, hiking and a trek down the alpine slide. I put my name down for the rest of the week!
Beyond all the laughs and fun I was amazed with the staff who were perfectly attentive and creative with the kids. They are really the best part of KVC making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. All in all, it was another great day of fun in Steamboat.
