Well, it is April and Winter has come back. I have to say it was very peaceful atop Mt. Werner this morning with a light snow falling. There is frost back on the trees and lots of fluffy white coming out of the sky. Due to warm weather conditions over the past few weeks expect to see some closures today on the Mountain. The Sundown side including Sunshine Bowl is closed as well as lower mountain. The open terrain is easily accessible via the Gondola at the start and end of your day. You will need to download back to the base when you are finished skiing and riding.
Curious to see what was going on up there, I headed off the Gondola and down Upper Vagabond to the Storm Peak Express. Vagabond was beautiful, soft and manicured nicely by our groomers. The groomed slopes received plenty of TLC last night and it makes a difference. It is not warm at the summit so make sure to dress appropriately. Don't forget about the Bar UE chairlift which is nestled in the trees and might not feel as cold as Storm Peak.
Buddy's Run was a cruise. Well groomed with a touch of new snow on top. I skied nice and mellow in case the snow was covering any hidden obstacles and I advise the same for everyone today. I glided over past the 4 Points Hut which will prove to be a great place to take a break and warm up this afternoon. Rainbow was a nice way to round out the morning. The terrain is skiing fast and visibility is low so make sure to use caution while riding today.
There are plenty of places to stop and rest your feet while enjoying a hot chocolate. Stay safe out there and enjoy the snow.
