Wine, Vino, Yum!

Last week I was able to get a sampling of  Steamboat's Wine Festival benefiting our own Stars program.  Few things in life make me happier than great food, wine and a beautiful day in Steamboat Springs. I know, I'm a simple girl.

Friday evening's stroll around downtown Steamboat was the highlight of the weekend for me. Enjoying the various local business and their hospitality was a perfect pairing with the wide range of national wine cellars.

During the warm evening stroll I stuck with the refreshing Chardonnay selections. (One of my favorites anyway!) Local smiles, trumpeting from Jake at 5th Street Deli and live music from local band Missed the Boat added to the overall relaxed vibe.

The best selection of wines seemed to be found on the Historic Routt County Court House lawn. That grass has seen it all from marathon runner's sweat, to the Farmer's Market delights. Centrally located in the heart on town, this was a perfect spot to start the evening's walk. Glenn Wiedemer, from Cafe Diva shared his wine expertise and offered a smooth and sweet Riesling to arouse my palette. Wait...I'm sticking with Chardonnay. I bid the evening adieu with a stop at Sweetwater where Stella and tunes were flowing.

Saturday's Gondola Square Tasting was the place to enjoy the beautifully remodeled base area. Delicious bites from Bistro C.V, Cafe Diva and treats from Life is Sweet were paired perfectly with my glass of Korbel bubbly. The sun was shining and the weather was sweet, all in all it was a grand afternoon.

If you missed the Wine Fest, don't fret. I've got another spectacular way for you to spend your evening. Sunset Happy Hour at the top of Thunderhead is wildly popular. Few places give you such a breathtaking view of the valley. Live music, beverages and a tapas style menu are all an entirely new way to enjoy the mountain. Plan on getting there early to beat the crowds and enjoy the sunset on our Yampa Valley. You will not regret it!
