After two unseasonably wind fill days, Mother Nature has calmed thing down a bit and has blessed us with a cloudless bluebird sky morning. As we roll into the final week of skiing, the conditions are holding strong. With still close to 30% of the terrain open, the mountain crew has done a wonderful job battling the elements and keeping us skiing and riding for another few days. With temperatures expected into the 50's by this afternoon, it's shaping up to be another wonderful day in Steamboat. Don't hang up the skis just yet, if your looking for some fun in the sun and want a great afternoon entertainment, head on up the mountain. The Spring skiing is at it finest and the concerts start at 2pm with Missed the Boat, followed by Keller Williams at 3:30.
Warming up with a quick run down Vagabond conditions were firm, given the cooler morning temperatures, but coverage is great and my ski held a firm edge as I made short swing turns down towards Surprise. Stopping and admiring the bumps, it's still a little early to hop in them, but give it a fews hours conditions will be ideal. Norther, Surprise and White Out, all still have plenty of coverage and will be in their prime around noon. Don't forget to ski a run down BC lift line. It has great coverage and you can look like a hero as everyone watches you rip on by.
Rounding out my morning with quick and enjoyable runs down Rainbow, Rudi's and Lightning, I can feel conditions change by the hour. The sun was quickly warming the slopes and conditions were softening with every run. It's shaping up to be a wonderful day. Grab a quick breakfast, slap on some sunscreen and enjoy this beautiful weekend. Happy Easter!
