The Straight Talk thought for the day... "accumulation"

Typically I'd love to associate this word with a winter storm and more specifically a number followed by the word "feet." However we are looking at blue skies and cold temperatures in the next few days - good for accumulating hours of snowmaking.

I'm thinking more big picture here on what is the 6th day we've been open. Those who have been out on Steamboat's slopes this week are working on accumulating other things: number of ski days, or amount of vertical for example. Families with young children are working on accumulating skills. I am working on accumulating muscle tone in my legs.

Warming up on corduroy on Rudi's, Lightening and Ego I was ready for the more lengthy descent on Heavenly Daze to Jess's Cutoff and down Vogue. Up the Christie Express and down Sitz and See Me, my legs were asking for a rest. Our snow was crisp this morning and I felt was at its best midway down in the morning sun.

The other run looking good this morning is our terrain park. I opted out of that today, though for you cyber shoppers out there how about this: a Parks & Pipe clinic for one of your family's aspiring freeriders? Or for those who prefer staying grounded, there's always a First Tracks clinic. Perfect for those days when we get some of that accumulation.

More or less a wide open mountainside but it is a ton of terrain considering there was none there previously with the exception of two narrow runs. Hopefully someone else from resort can shed light on future plans but I have heard a new lift comes i…

So will this add new trails or just wide open mountainside? What lift would service the area? I do agree that Steamboat is not the best mountain for beginners so anything to help add more green runs would be a great thing!

Michael- By my count, there were 9 jumps and about 25 rails set up last year in 3 separate parks. Your video clip shows you hitting at least 7 different rails. All the takeoffs and landings look pretty decent in your video, also. Good thing the par…

The best time to buy your lift tickets is in June early booking is never early enough, really. But airfare wise, if you start too early you can be really gouged by the airlines. My January trip was booked in June and I've seen up to $200 per ticket…
