After an extremely windy day yesterday (we only skied for 1.5 hours in the afternoon), the mountain was in surprisingly good shape today: hard packed in areas, but still very skiable. We even enjoyed a couple of fast runs down Heavenly Daze. The sun was shining and the temperature was very pleasant (warm, but not too warm in full skiwear). The temperatures are not, however, warm enough to affect the snow (it isn’t wet or slushy).

We have had a couple of really good dinners since I last posted. A great dinner at Bistro CV last night and a really enjoyable family dinner at Cantina tonight: both very good, in different ways.
Bistro CV provides very well balanced and flavourful dishes from very fresh and well sourced quality ingredients. In addition, the presentation is also excellent. Over the past few years, Bistro CV has definitely grown on us. Their entree portions used to seem a little small (even from a British point-of-view), but this seems to have changed and the entree portion sizes are now much better. Husband and I shared half a dozen oysters, then he had the steak tartare followed by the Wagyu hanger steak and I had the selection of fish tartare followed by the roast chicken. Husband had the chocolate cheesecake and I had the apple crisp for dessert. My only disappointment was that they don’t serve Champagne by the glass: Prosecco is just not the same. If you haven’t tried it before – and are looking for fine dining – then Bistro CV is definitely worth a look.

Tonight we took Jnr to Cantina (we have been there before, but before he was born) and had a good value and enjoyable meal. We had chips and guacamole to begin. Husband had the beef tacos and I had the sizzling chicken fajitas. Jnr ate bits from both of our meals and then finished with the cinnamon ice cream. The food is fresh and good quality. The restaurant is bright and colourful, and had a good atmosphere (especially near the bar area) and the service was excellent when we were there (early). The margaritas are pretty good too! They also have a happy hour.
Not sure that I will have a chance to blog before returning home on Tuesday, but I will definitely finish my blog after reaching home.

Comment by Boo Boo on February 7, 2012 at 8:43am I see you have a pair of the new Salomon BBRs - 7.9 or 8.9? How did you rate them in the current conditions?
I always enjoy your blogs. I was at Steamboat last week as well and wish I was still there! While I didn't get any fresh snow during my dates, the skiing was still great as always. Already looking forward to next year--hope you have a great remainder of your trip!
