Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. Donation Benefits Trail Maintenance Across the Yampa Valley
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-July 9, 2013-Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation will donate $5,000 to Routt County Riders’ trail maintenance fund as well as provide a one-time $15 Steamboat Bike Park ticket during the 2013 summer season for members of Routt County Riders in lieu of Sponsorship Day.
“Mother Nature just wouldn’t cooperate with us as we worked to host the inaugural Routt County Riders Sponsorship Day on two occasions,” said Jim Schneider, vice president of skier services for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “The resort is committed to its partnership with Routt County Riders and the $5,000 donation seemed an ideal way to keep the spirit of Sponsorship Day alive and moving forward for years to come.”
This spring, the resort unveiled Routt County Riders Sponsorship Day as a way to kick off the summer bike season on the mountain. After two unsuccessful attempts due to inclement weather to host Sponsorship Day, the resort decided to donate $5,000 to be used for trail maintenance across the Yampa Valley by Routt County Riders. The resort anticipates hosting Sponsorship Day again next summer when it opens for the 2014 season.
“We are thrilled with Steamboat Ski Resort’s generosity,” said Routt County Riders vice president Eric Meyer. “The $5,000 that it has committed to trail maintenance will go a long way as we continue plans for 20 trail work days throughout Routt County this summer. Throwing in the $15 Bike Park pass for every Routt County Riders member was really icing on the cake!”
In addition to its donation, the resort is offering one-time $15 Steamboat Bike Park ticket (regularly $36) during the 2013 summer season for members of Routt County Riders. Routt County Riders members can bring their membership card to the Steamboat ticket office beginning Tuesday, July 9, and continuing any time throughout the summer to receive a one-time discounted Steamboat Bike Park all-day ticket for $15. Furthermore, Steamboat Ski Resort will honor the limited-time deal for anyone who renews or joins Routt County Riders by noon on Sunday, July 14th.

During the summer of 2012 the resort introduced its new Steamboat Bike Park to rave reviews. Working in conjunction with legendary trail developers Gravity Logic, the long awaited plan for downhill biking became a reality in the Yampa Valley with five trails including one expert jump trail and a new fleet of mountain bikes specially designed to tackle the new terrain. This summer, the Steamboat Bike Park continues to grow with the completion of Tenderfoot, a beginner downhill trail and Rawhide, an expert trail featuring rolling rock drops and steep, sharp turns.
