Steamboat Kids’ Adventure Club Explores The Outdoors

Early Registration Discount For 20-Day Camp Through May 6th;
KAC Programs Keep Kids Active & Entertained For A Day, Week or Entire Summer Season

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-April 20, 2011-What’s in store for your kids this summer? The Kids’ Adventure Club (KAC) opens the mountain environment through a variety of outdoor activities for children 12 and under at the Steamboat Ski Resort whether for a day, week, multiple days or the entire summer.

“Kids’ Adventure Club is one of the best sources of fun, adventure, personal growth and learning for children during the summer in Steamboat,” says Kimberly Butler, KAC Manager. “Our goal is to get kids outside, get them excited about the mountains and help them have fun in a safe, yet adventurous atmosphere.”

The Kids’ Adventure Club offers hands-on exploration of Steamboat and its western surroundings for children ages 3 years old through 12 years old. With an emphasis on outdoor education and teambuilding activities, different programs focus on each child’s need with the goal of sharing adventures and making new friends. Special indoor activities are planned for inclement weather that also focuses on growth development and learning.

Open to local and visiting children, KAC camp sessions are Monday through Friday from June 13 through August 19, 2011. Daily sessions run from 7:30am to 5:30pm with activities from 9 am to 4 pm.

KAC offers activities for children ages 3-12 with specialized programs for each age group. Programs include Mini-Campers (ages 3-4), Yampa Campers (age 5 -2nd Grade) and Routt Scouts (ages 3rd Grade – age 12). Activities for each group include hiking, biking, arts and crafts, water sports, outdoor games, Strings in the Mountain concerts and Coca Cola Adventure Zone activities. Routt Scouts also participate in off-site activities at Steamboat Lake, Craig Wave Pool and Hahn’s Peak Lake.

Kimberly Butler returns for her second season as the manager of the Kids’ Adventure Club. Butler brings more than 7 years of childcare experience as well as outdoor education to the summer program, including experience in backpacking, canoeing, climbing and biking.

Registration for 2011 Kids’ Adventure Club sessions is now open, with the options of single, 10 or 20 day programs. Single sessions are $55 per day and 20+ days cost $37 per day.  Other cost include $25 for registration and $12 for the required Kids’ Adventure Club signature t-shirt. Space is limited and this popular program fills up quickly. Children who are registered for 20-day sessions by Friday, May 6th receive a 10% discount, plus another 5 % discount for additional siblings registered.
