Spring has sprung here in the Yampa Valley. If you are like me, a great dose of spring skiing is definitely in order by middle March. We have had a wonderful season so far and to top this great season off, what better way to wind down the year with some sun and warmer temperatures. We have had a wonderful week of spring skiing in beautiful conditions. With a little less than a month left in the season, it's far from over. Get out the Hawaiian shirts, bust out the sunblock and get ready for some corn skiing. I love spring!

With temperatures already in the mid-30's, it won't take long for the snow to soften up. The overcast clouds will be lingering throughout the day and there is a chance for snow later on this afternoon. This morning was a day for groomers. The snow was firm, but very manageable. My skis held a solid edge as I searched for softest snow. I chose to ski longer runs on this quiet morning. Trails like High Noon to Lower High Noon, Buddy's Run, and Rainbow are some of the longest runs on the mountain and are all in wonderful shape. These runs allow me to get tons of turns in while skiing a consistent pitch.

Lower mountain always takes a while longer to soften up, as I rounded out my morning with some Vagabond and Heavenly Daze runs, I felt the snow loosen with each chair ride. The sun and clouds were battling all morning, one moment she threatened to come out and shine bright, the next, the clouds over ruled and engulfed her, bringing back the overcast skies. I think these conditions will continue throughout the day.

Have a great day on the slopes and don't forget to join in all the fun activities going on at the base of the mountain. The Bear River Bar and Grill has been the hot spot for all your Apres Skiing fun and don't forget to shop for some great ski deals to be found at all our retail stores.

Think Spring.
