Your vacation planning community

There are a lot of smiling faces around Steamboat these days. If your vacation is over and your are heading home, your smiling because you have had a great week of skiing. With fresh powder everyday this week the skiing was wonderful. If you are just getting here, you are smiling because your about to ski some of the best conditions in the country. With two months left in the ski season we just surpassed last years snow total. The snow is piling up and the conditions are at their prime. Keep those smiles going because today was another great day of skiing.

It's another beautiful bluebird sky morning and there is not a cloud in the sky. With 11 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, you could not pick a bad run this morning. Groomers, bumps or powder there in something for everyone. I was joined by my son this morning for some early morning turns. We headed to Flintlock for some morning cruisers. It was here where we came up with a new ski term. Powderroy! This is a new term used for Corduroy that is soft when you make a turn it fluffs into powder. Our skis floated effortlessly over the groomed run and left huge trenches with each turn. Smiling form ear to ear we headed up Sundown Express for a second run.

Heading over to the Storm Peak side we found similar conditions on Storm Peak South and Sunset. With groomers in the middle and powder on each side, we had a blast curving a few GS turns on the corduroy, then hopping into the powder for some fun in the trees.

Looking for some quiet runs, trying riding the Pony Express this morning. The lines were starting to form at the Storm Peak Express, so we decided to round out our morning skiing off the Pony Chair. We found great groomers on Longhorn and Drop Out. Looking for some powder, try skiing WJW and Chuckwagon.

Have a great day out on the slopes. Enjoy the sunshine and don't forget to bring your smile. I left mine somewhere up in the trees!
