ROMA NAMED TERRAIN PARK MANAGER

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-October 29, 2009-Industry terrain park veteran, Nicholas Roma, has been named to the position of Terrain Park Manager for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation.

“Steamboat has made considerable strides across its terrain parks over the past three years and we are delighted to have someone as talented and accomplished as Nicholas carry that momentum onward,” said Jim Schneider, vice-president of skier services for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “As a seasoned terrain park manager and builder, we look to Nicholas to play a central role in maintaining features for all ability levels.”

Roma joins Ski Town, U.S.A.® from Bethel, Maine, where he held the terrain park manager position for the past six years overseeing all aspects of Sunday River’s top-rated terrain parks and superpipes. Comfortable in the seat of a number of Bombardier grooming machines, he has designed and fabricated approximately fifty varieties of rails and boxes as well as custom features for companies such as RedBull, Oakley and Empire. In addition, he is the owner of PARKhitecture, a network of industry leading terrain park designers and event managers that spans the spectrum from feature design to event management.

Roma has played an integral role during several special events over his career including the 2009 Sunday River World Cup Snowboard event; 1st Downtown Showdown Rail Jam in downtown Portland featuring pro athletes and more than 2,000 spectators; 1st Simon Dumont Cup; Simon Dumont World Record Quarterpipe Project with Snow Park Technologies; and numerous film and photo sessions. Steamboat’s Olympic athletes won’t be the only ones attending the 2010 Winter Games. Invited by the Vancouver Organizing Committee, Roma is the lone American on the 8-person snowcat/shaper team responsible for building and maintaining the 2010 Olympic BoarderX and SkierX courses this upcoming February.

At Steamboat, Roma will be responsible for managing all guest service aspects for the resort's terrain parks; development of terrain features, oversight of park staff and implementation of the resort’s ParkWise safety initiative. He began his new duties this week and reports directly to Ski & Snowboard School director, Nelson Wingard.

“Steamboat has an incredible reputation within the industry and a growing one among terrain parks,” said Roma. “In my new role, I want to spend more time enhancing education, promoting strong riding skills and simply creating a memorable terrain park experience for our guests no matter their level.”

Catering to all freeriders, Steamboat’s terrain park team strives to offer different levels of heart-pounding excitement to skiers and riders through four different terrain parks. Steamboat’s signature terrain park, serviced exclusively by its own chairlift, consists of terrain and features spread across 14 acres, an outdoor music system and Mavericks Superpipe, a 500-foot long, 56-foot wide super beast. Just around the corner sits Rabbit Ears Terrain Park with numerous features, jumps and mini-Mavs, a 150-foot long halfpipe with 8-foot walls ideal for novice riders. Lil’ Rodeo Park is a friendly base area beginner park popular with kids of all ages and typically is the first of the resort’s parks to open. Rounding out the riding options is Sunbeam, the snowcross park, located in the family friendly area of Rendezvous Saddle.

Steamboat’s parks have been featured in numerous print, television and film shoots and commercials, and were recently voted in the top-10 for terrain parks by SKI Magazine readers.
