Some days are just meant for cruising. This morning happened to be one of those days. With storm clouds on the horizon and a good chance of snow later this afternoon, the groomers looked too good to pass up. Now don't get me wrong, there is still plenty of powder left in the trees and the moguls are soft as pillows, but this morning I wanted to get out and hit the corduroy.

The mountain is in absolute wonderful condition and with nearly 20 feet of snow falling since the ski area opened there is something for everyone. The mountain crew has done a fabulous job keeping our runs in tip top shape and today was no exception. I opened my morning with several fun groomers off  the Sundown Express. Rolex and Westside were freshly rolled last night and is always popular with the First Tracks crew. I was joined by several early risers as I made my way down the slopes, each of us picking our own line and carving in sync as we skied down. Racing to the top, we repeated the same routine on Westside.

Heading to the Storm Peak side and gazing down at the grooming report, I noticed Hurricane, Tornado and Cyclone were all groomed. One word, Heaven! Fresh tracks on each and corduroy as smooth as silk, my skis carved deep trenches in the soft snow. Four Points Chair lift is always a good call early in the A.M. As the line starts to form at Storm Peak, you can usually get 2 to 3 runs in before the lift opens.

Rounding out my morning with a quiet run down Ted's Ridge, I stopped to watched the clouds gather to the west. Looks like we are in for another round of snow and judging from the distance it's coming sooner than later. Have a great day on the slopes, enjoy the sun because it's about to go away for a few days.
