Opening Day on Storm Peak!

In Steamboat, skiers and riders received another holiday gift today - the opening of the Storm Peak Express lift!  Starting today, top-to-bottom terrain is open to enjoy.   Watching the sunrise this morning from 10,372 feet above sea level made me feel like winter has fully arrived in Steamboat! 

Hoots and hollers could be heard this morning as cursive turns were made in untouched powder on Storm Face.  My skis floated and bobbed over the fresh, soft snow.  On my first run down Triangle 3, I found the softest and deepest snow I've skied all season.  Leaning back onto the tails of my skis made for smooth, surfy turns in the knee-deep powder. 

I took some easy groomer turns down Buddy's Run next and headed over to Calf Roper.  Wanting some more of that Champagne Powder, I ducked into the trees on Typhoon and was not disappointed.  The trees on Typhoon were loaded with buttery powder.  Light, flowing turns in the trees put a huge smile on my face this morning. 

With another storm predicted for this weekend, the mountain should just continue to get better and better!
