Not a cloud for miles

There is not a cloud in the sky.  This is typically the view you receive on a crisp morning like today.  The conditions are gorgeous with plenty of sparkles to adorn the snow covered trees, truly beautiful.  It is not warm.  My recommendation is to head up to the top of the mountain, the temperature is more pleasant at higher elevations.  Although warmer up top, it is still essential to cover any exposed skin, Jack Frost is lingering and frost bite is in the air.  The Burgess Creek lift is not running due to a mechanical problem.  You can access the Thunderhead Lodge via the Elkhead and Thunderhead Chair lifts, we apologize for any inconvenience. 

I will tell you this, the groomers are perfect today, absolutely beautiful.  I had to stop frequently to admire the surroundings, white and crispy, wonderful to be outside.  The surface of the snow is super carvy.  I headed up the
gondola and over to the Sundown Chair, it was a goal to seek out the runs closer to the sun this morning.  I was the first one down Tomahawk, what a site.  I looked down the run with those fabulous rollers stretched out before me and I knew it would be fun.  I ventured down Pup to check out the non groomed surface and although very soft, a little sticky with the cold temperatures.  I would advise staying on the groomed terrain until the sun has a chance to warm things up a little.  Quickdraw was just as sweet.  With easy short turns, I cruised down to the Southpeak Chair, up and down a nicely groomed Westside. 

Once back at mid mountain, I headed down a smooth Vagabond over to Lower Concentration, down Eagles Nest to Giggle Gulch then on to the base.  It is still way colder at the bottom than it is up top.  Lots of opportunities to jump into one of our mountain lodges to warm up with a nice hot chocolate and a warm cookie, and I do advise that you do so.
