It is time to get up off the couch and get those ski legs working people and that means me too.
Here we go.

From the Denver Post.

"Boasting its earliest opening day in 40 years, Loveland officials today announced the area will open for skiing Wednesday. Less than an hour later the folks at Arapahoe Basin congratulated their rivals on the other side of the pass and said their area would open Friday.

Loveland will become the first ski area in North America to open its season at 9 a.m. with $44 lift tickets. Loveland trail crews were able to begin snowmaking operations on Sept. 21.

"We took advantage of the cold temperatures and got an early start making snow this year," said Eric Johnstone, snowmaking and trail maintenance manager."

Don't you mean 2005 when the whole mountain was open like right after Thanksgiving?

Well that's a good story too but I was referring to that January in I think '94 or '95 when we got 20 feet of snow in that month alone! We were buried and it was so fun!

I was here in December 1996 thru Christmas and it snowed a foot or more everyday and some mornings was as much as 2 feet.
I got myself into a treewell near the Morningside lift thankfully feet first and it was 3 feet above my head to get out.
Thank goodness a snowboarder followed my tracks and helped pull me out.

I was at Loveland yesterday enjoying the opening...it was a great day to be on snow and the conditions were pretty good, plus there were barely any lines!

Jan 96; I was there too, the third year of my current string of coming every January. I had to move my car 3 times just to keep it from getting buried by the plows, and there was still 3 feet of snow on the roof when I went to go home on Saturday. Only saw the sun one day that week. But fantastic skiing!!!
