Five weeks ago we put our house on the market to sell it. Property prices are falling, quite markedly, in the UK and we were looking to move soon anyway. So, despite missing the height of the market, we have been advised to sell. With the intention of moving into rented accomodation for a while and coming back to the property market, once house prices have fallen, as strong buyers (with no chain).
We thought that everything had gone "quiet" for Christmas, when we get an offer last week. We have accepted the offer, but the buyer wants to complete before 5th February. It is now too late to exchange contracts before Christmas (just not enough working days) and we are in the US between 28th December and 20th January. So, assuming things run smoothly, we have a hectic time ahead (I am actually viewing rental properties at the moment - with the hope that some may still be around by the time we get back)!
So our trip to Steamboat is in the middle of all of that! Exciting, if completely insane, times...
The weekend before this one just gone, we went to an indoor ski dome (with "real" snow) at Manchester: just checking that we could both still balance on our skis. That works quite well for just regaining a little confidence. Photo, below, is me (lime green jacket) skiing down the slope at the "Chill Factore", Machester.

I had asked Bear Claw to collect our Super Value Passes (20 day ski passes) from the ticket office. They let me know that they had, very kindly, picked them up for us today. This is just wonderful: we will be given our SVPs when we check-in to Bear Claw (in the evening) and so can just ski off and straight to the lifts the next morning (without having to queue up and collect them, from the ticket office, ourselves). Incredibly convenient! :-)
Husband is bringing the ski bag (we have a rigid ski tube from sportstube) in, from the garage, tonight. So we can pack up the skis and the boots and ski gear well in advance of flying to the USA on 28th December. We are visiting in-laws (in Los Angeles) before flying on to Steamboat on the 3rd of January. Packing them all up now means one less thing to think about over/after Christmas.
So there is a sense of excitment around the house: Christmas, selling the house and (last, but definitely not least) coming to Steamboat :-).
