Oh the weather outside is indeed frightful but the Mountain is SO delightful.  It is definitely winter out there on this blustery Monday and taking some runs is a much better way to spend the morning than anything else that I should be doing today.   A hearty snow is falling bringing a wonderful creamy consistency to the slopes allowing fantastic carvability under foot.  Bundle up when headed out, it is for sure a neck gaiter kind of day.  The valley is really socked in today which is a good sign that the snow will continue to fall.

My first run down Heavenly Daze was like skiing on custard.  Each turn was better than the last.  I will say that the visibility is low today.  If you have a brighter colored lens for your goggles, I would recommend snapping them in.  The sides of the Daze and Vogue are a good location to stick to, the trees provide some dimension to the ground and I found it easier to see there.

I did take a run down Boulevard to Right of Way on my way back to the base, what a nice cruise through the wintery woods.  This is a green route to the base and is a peaceful way to return to the bottom with low traffic and a perfect groomed surface.  The snow making guns are running on Main Drag providing a little extra snow fall in this region.

The Burgess Creek chairlift opens this morning providing access to new terrain including Rudi's Run, Lightning and Ego.  Sitz is closed for the day for a race and although the left side of Vogue will also have a race on it this morning, Vogue will be open this afternoon to the public.

The ridable terrain is in fantastic shape and Thunderhead Lodge can provide you with the warm up break that you will need to re fuel for another turn out there.

Enjoy your day and keep a weather eye out, there is more snow on the way.
