Three FREE Concerts and Quick & Chainless DH Race Highlight End of Season Event
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-September 18, 2012-Steamboat celebrates the end of the summer season with the inaugural Steamboat SummerEndo, featuring three nights of free concerts, 50 % off Bike Park tickets, as well as the Quick & Chainless Downhill Bike Race over the resort’s closing summer weekend, September 28-30, 2012.
“With the debut of the new Steamboat Bike Park and downhill trails, plus the first summer enjoying the completed Promenade and Burgess Creek, a celebration was definitely warranted,” said Jim Schneider, vice president of skier services for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “We want to thank everyone who worked so hard to get us to this point and all those folks that have shown their support by enjoying all that is going on during the summer at the mountain.”
The Steamboat SummerEndo sets the tradition of closing out summer in style while at the same time getting psyched for the upcoming winter, which will be the resort’s 50th set to begin 55 days from Summer Closing Weekend on Nov. 21st. Music sets the stage for the end of summer season extravaganza with three FREE concerts covering a broad range of music from techno/dance to reggae to country on the new Steamboat Stage. Concerts will feature the following bands:
Jeremy Buck @6pm – September 28th - Jeremy Buck’s new project called BuckTronica loops several instruments together LIVE, in what he calls a one man band from the future.
Wise100Doors & Friends @6pm – September 29th - Fijian-born "One-Man Music-Machine" Wise Katubadrau aka Wise100Doors, has quickly become a favorite due to his personal style which breathes new life, revitalizing timeless classics, all done in one "mash-up" type mega-song. Wise's vibe and musical style is accompanied with a unique stage presence, playing the acoustic guitar, while singing and playing the drums with his feet, giving you an extremely full sound.
The Sean Patrick McGraw Band @4pm - September 30th - McGraw describes his music as something like Lyle Lovett singing Springsteen songs while wearing Dwight Yoakam's hat. His song "Fiona" won top honors at the 2008 Independent Music Awards, American Songwriting Competition and the Mountain Stages New Song Festival.
A special Upper Deck Club ticket allows VIP access to the band playing that day as well as complimentary beer, wine and appetizers. The Upper Deck is open from 5:30pm to 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday; and 3:30pm-6pm on Sunday. Upper Deck tickets are available for $99 from Steamboat Central Reservations® or www.steamboat.com/summerendo. In addition, the Umbrella Bar and Bud Beer truck will be serving up beer specials as well as $6 Promenade Punch drinks along with food from the BBQ Grill and Gondola Joe’s. The party fever continues as the Bear River Bar & Grill hosts an after-party celebration with live music by Jesse Christiansen following each of the free concerts.
The final weekend of downhill mountain biking in the Steamboat Bike park will feature all trails except Tenderfoot and Rawhide, and Bike Park passes will be 50% off for all participants, including winter season passholders. On Sunday, beginning at 1pm Rustler Ridge, will play host to the Quick & Chainless Race presented by the Steamboat Bike Shop as part of the Steamboat SummerEndo festivities. Intermediate and advance riders will compete without a chain as they travel down the 5.3 miles of downhill trail to see who’s the fastest in the valley. Race starts at 1:00pm on Sunday, September 30th with riders running in set intervals. Prizes will be award for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in Men, Women and Youth (15 & under) categories. The Steamboat Bike Park trails will be closed to the public at 1pm on Sunday due to the race.
Quick & Chainless registration is limited to the first 200 individuals with a $30 entry fee ($20 for Bike Park Pass Holders). Event registration, available online at www.steamboat.com/chainless, and will close at 5pm on Friday, Sept. 28th. All Quick & Chainless participants will be entered in a prize drawing for a chance to win one of two 2013 Steamboat Bike Park Season Passes. Awards will take place on the Steamboat Stage before the free concert by The Sean Patrick McGraw Band.
