Please don't let this morning's chilly temperatures deter you from venturing outside. There was literally a 30 degree temperature difference from my house in town to the top of the mountain. The inversion layer is in full effect and the mountain conditions are wonderful. Now don't get me wrong and head out in your shorts and Hawaiian shirt, but please dress in layers and cover any exposed parts. The sun is shinning bright and the temperature got more pleasant with every run.

This morning was one for the groomers. Hats off to the crew for doing a wonderful job every evening and leaving us with a fresh canvas to ski on every morning. From top to bottom, I stayed on the corduroy and had a blast. For warm ups, I hit High Noon to Lower High Noon twice. It was that good, I had to do it again. Groomed to near perfection, I skied from edge of the run to edge of the run, making grand GS turns. I never knew your eyes could water inside your goggles. Two O'Clock shared similar conditions and is in great shape.

Venturing over to the Storm Peak area and still searching for some fresh groomers, I skied Storm Peak South to Rainbow. One word, awesome! The snow was fantastic and my skis hummed a joyful tune as I ripped the complete run with short swing turns. The run of the day has to be Cyclone. As you can tell by the above picture, I had the entire run to myself. The mountain was quiet this morning and had several hours to awake. I had most runs to myself and enjoyed every minute of it.

Rounding out my morning with a few mid-mountain runs off of the Thunderhead chair, I found more quiet slopes and fun groomers on Lower Valley View, Heavenly Daze and Vagabond. The temperatures lower down were still a bit chilly, but the great conditions certainly made up for it. Have a great day on the slopes.

Think Snow.
