This is one of our favorite times of the year in Steamboat. Not only are the fall colors incredible, but snow begins to make an appearance in the valley and that means only one thing... the winter season is almost here!
October started off with a snowy bang, when a massive storm dropped 14 inches on the mountain and left Steamboat a winter wonderland. Another storm is planted in Steamboat right now, with 4" of snow accumulating at the summit last night and light snow accumulation possible through the rest of today.
It's all leading up to another incredible winter season in Steamboat, starting November 27th. We're especially excited for this season due to new projects that will continue to set Steamboat apart as the best winter vacation destination. Four Points Lodge will transform the Storm Peak side of the mountain with a grand new lodge that will accommodate skiers and snowboarders. Serving up unique mountain fare with a northern Italian twist, Four Points Lodge will be the place on the mountain to relax and take in the views.
We're also adding night skiing and snowboarding this winter. Trails from Christy Peak Express down to the base area will be lit with industry leading light technology adding a few extra hours to the ski/ride day. Night skiing will also include Lil' Rodeo Terrain Park and an all new stair feature built by Steamboat's former Terrain Park Manager and Olympic venue builder, Nick Roma.
We can't wait to get things going for the 2013/14 winter season, and apparently Mother Nature is just as excited. We'll keep you updated on early season snowfall, special deals and packages and other big news leading up to Opening Day; when our Straight Talkers will be back in action reporting from the mountain.
