EXTENDED LIFT CLOSING TIMES BEGIN FEBRUARY 25 AT STEAMBOAT

86 Inches of Powder Falls at Mid-Mtn and 100+ Inches at Summit in February

 

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-February 24, 2012-Steamboat will begin extended spring closing hours starting tomorrow, February 25th, giving powderhounds up to as much as an additional half-hour to enjoy the slopes. Extended spring hours run through Steamboat’s closing day of Sunday, April 15.

 

"With all the Champagne Powder snow that has fallen and still more on the way, powderhounds now have additional time to enjoy the slopes at Steamboat with the start of spring hours,” said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation.

 

The chart outlines current lift opening time, regular closing time; and, now, the new spring closing times for each lift effective tomorrow. Please remember that changing mountain weather may affect lift operations.

“All the elements—incredible snow, extended spring hours, fantastic packages and easy access for our out-of-state guests--have come together to make skiing/riding in Steamboat over March and April a can’t miss vacation experience,” said Rob Perlman, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

 

In the month of February, snow has fallen 15 out of 24 days with 11 of those days recording four or more inches of snow. The cumulative snowfall for the month comes in at over 7 feet at mid-mtn, and just over 8 feet (or 100.75 inches) piling up at the summit.  Since the New Year, nearly 10.5 feet of Champagne Powder snow has collected at mid-mtn and more than 12 feet at the summit.
