Last night, while Cupid was flying over Steamboat with his bow and arrow, he saw a cloud so full of snow it that was bustling at the seams and ready to burst. Cupid eyed the cloud as he passed by, winked and snickered, and pulled back mightily on his bow.  The arrow flew off the bow with great force and pierced the cloud releasing bucket loads of fluffy snowflakes.  The cloud was so full of snowflakes that it dropped 4 inches of snow before the sun came up this morning and there's no sign if it emptying out yet! It looks like there's another 5 to 12 inches of snow left in the cloud to fall on Steamboat before the week ends! Cupid loves Steamboat!

It's no secret that we LOVE powder skiing and riding here in Steamboat!  Today I decided to celebrate that love by skiing some of my favorite runs.  I could not pass up the 4 inches of fresh snow on the ungroomed Rolex first thing this morning.  Like cupid's arrow, my skis darted from top to bottom with little resistance in the new snow.  Puffs of powder flew off my boots and kissed my shins on each turn.  This is heaven!

Rainbow is another of my favorite runs and it did not disappoint me today.  Four fresh inches over perfectly groomed corduroy skied like a dream.  On each turn I felt the sensation of both powder and corduroy, which was delightful.  The corduroy held the edges of my skis up and allowed me to take an aggressive turn, while the fresh powder took the edge off each turn and allowed my skis to float through the motion.  This sensation is pure bliss.  From the picture below, it looks like Cupid was also skiing Rainbow today!

Vagabond was my last run of the day and it was fantastic.   On Vagabond, so many snowflakes hit my face and melted as I skied.  It was like the powder gods were blowing me kisses through the air.  Did I mention that it's still pounding snow as I write this? Don't forget to take your sweetie to the Sprint Valentine's Day Torchlight Parade and Fireworks tonight at 7:00 p.m. Don't have a sweetie? Don't worry, if you love POWDER and lots of it, then Steamboat will love you right back forever.

Yours truly,
