Although today started a little cloudy, the sun is now shining bright lighting up our favorite cruisers on the mountain.
We have been enjoying some amazing sunny days lately which have brought the temperatures up during the day almost feeling like spring skiing in January. The inversion pattern is starting to break down allowing for comfortable temperatures no matter where you are on the mountain. This is a good thing as it is a sign of new weather making its way in...
The runs that spend a little less time in the afternoon sun were a bit more friendly first thing this morning for fast cruising, but the sun is quickly bringing everything into shape. By no means was the snow firm on any run, I just found that my skis were able to carve into the fresh ribs of corduroy a little better on the more shaded runs like Buddy's, Cyclone and Vagabond.
If groomers are your thing, today would be a good day to get up here and enjoy a few runs in the sun. The runs are fast, and if you have tuned edges you will carving it up on all of the cruisers. If powder is your thing, it's time to bust out your snow dance, because there is a quick storm on tap for Steamboat on Thursday. It doesn't look like this storm will necessarily be a big producer, but enough to blanket our valley in plenty of fresh Champagne Powder that we all love to play in. It's great to see that Steamboat has some of the deepest snow pack in the state, but we need everyone to do their snow dance so we can be enjoying fresh tracks on Thursday and Friday.
Get up and enjoy some corduroy in the sun today before it turns into a snowy scene.
Pick of the mountain today is Cyclone.
See you on the mountain
