We are having yet another beautiful, blue sky, spring day here in Steamboat.
The groomers did a great job performing their magic on the snow that had softened during the day yesterday. My warm-up run down Rudi's and Lightning got me ready for more. Next I took a brisk jaunt down Skyline and Lower Rainbow. The skiing felt good and effortless and I realized I had been going at a pretty fast clip. It's good to keep in control and to remember that before the snow starts softening in the sun, usually by around 10, it is easy to pick up a lot of speed.
Making shorter and quicker turns is one way to manage how much speed you pick up and still have a lot of fun. I took a lap on Buddy's alternating between the shorter turns and some big sweepers.
Bring your sunscreen & sunglasses - it's Spring!
