The inches keep piling up and so do the smiles on our faces. It's crazy what a little frozen particle of ice can do for your soul. With over 4 feet of snow falling this week alone, we have had one incredible week of skiing. Mother Nature has once again blessed us with a week full of snow.
With clouds of this past week's storms still lingering in the Yampa Valley, Mother Nature decided to hit us with one last blast of powder before heading out. We woke up to another 6 inches in the past 24 hours. If you wanted to ski bumps, powder, trees or groomers, today you are in for a treat. I couldn't find a bad run. I can honestly say, this was one of the best mornings of the year. The sun is shining bright, the air is crisp and the skiing is out of this world.
I opened my morning with a funky but fun run down 3 O'Clock. Groomed two days ago, the run ranged from fresh powder to wind blown bumps to corduroy. All in one run. The trees both on the left and right side of the trail still held knee deep powder and was as soft as can be.
The Closet and Shadows are still holding powder stashes and I found plenty of fresh snow as I made may way down to Storm Peak Express. Oh, I left some for you!
Heading over to the Pony Express, I found equally expressive conditions. The top was slightly wind blown but make two or three turns down any run on that side and you are in for a treat. Did I tell you I had an awesome morning!
Run of the day was Longhorn. Groomed to absolute perfection, I enjoyed every turn form top to bottom. With fresh powder on each side, I hopped in for a turn or two and still found knee deep. Looking to get away from the crowds, the Pony Chair is always a good bet. I skied right on and didn't even have to wait in line.
Have a great day on the slopes. Don't forget your sunscreen and bring along some water. Sorry for all the pictures, but today was pretty special and I wanted to share my experience as much as I could with you.
