Your vacation planning community

It is no secret that Steamboat is known for being one of the best resorts for families.  Aside from the great diversity that our terrain has to offer for all levels of skiers and riders, there is always something kid friendly to do here in the valley.  This town is well equipped with plenty for the little guys from hot springs to soak in to tubing hills, even an Ice Castle. There is never a dull moment and the kids LOVE it all.  The Ski School here does a fantastic job at not only teaching the kids how to ski and ride but how fun it is to just be outside.

If you are out with your kids on the hill don't underestimate the enjoyment of Why Not.  This is our longest run here weaving and winding down the mountain beginning at Thunderhead.   Along the way, stop at the various wildlife signs and have some fun educating the group about the myriad of animals that grace this area.  Each sign tells a tale about what kind of critters you might see during your stay here.  Stop at the tee pee at the intersection of Vagabond and have a snack before venturing back out onto the trail.  Rough Rider Basin is also a great hot spot for kids with more hoots and hollars to be had and all kids and parents enjoy the ride on the poma.

I do recommend the lower mountain today.  I did not go up past the Four Points Chair as the top of the hill is a bit breezy with a strong wind coming in from the South.  With the temperatures being a little cooler today, I stuck tight to the groomers trusting that our crew did a nice job overnight transforming these trails into a smooth ride.  Cyclone, Tornado and Hurricane were all rolled and skied great. A grooming report can be picked up in the Information Center across from the ticket windows listing all of the trails that were hit overnight.

Last night's fireworks for St. Patrick's Day have been postponed to tonight due to the high winds we saw yesterday so make your way to the base area this evening around 8 o'clock to experience the show.  Enjoy a fine meal at The Cabin inside of the Steamboat Grand prior to the viewing of the lights.

Enjoy your week.  Looks to be some more snow on the horizon to contribute to this great season we are still having here in Steamboat.
