Some things go really well together... like peanut butter & jelly, or a fast car & a open road. But todays perfect pairing is the best of them out there - blue Colorado sky & deep Champagne Powder ® snow
It snowed hard all day yesterday well into the afternoon past when the lifts closed. I was skiing until 4pm Tuesday, and the hill was empty most of the afternoon so I knew what we were going to wake up to today. Yesterday was deep, and today is even deeper. The mountain is refreshed with plentiful fresh tracks every where you look.
No need for a long winded report today as it can be summed up in one word - AWESOME. The sun is shining bright, the powder is everywhere and the crowds are nowhere. I feel that the deepest snow is at the 4 Points summit elevation throughout the width of the mountain; well past the knees and getting close to the waist. We investigated everything on the mountain today from Sundown to Storm, up Morningside and Pony down to Thunderhead. Morningside surprisingly has the least amount of fresh with Sundown area seeming to have the most.
What a day to be skiing in the Boat - call in sick, reschedule that meeting or just bring everyone along because you really should get up here. The last 4 weeks in Steamboat have been incredible; it has been snowing constantly and we have just been a part of one monster powder blur. Love this place.
Pick of the mountain today is Flying Z; especially in those aspens on the left if you know what I am talking about- it is deep over there!
Throw on some sunscreen, grab your fat powder boards and head out for some fun!
See you on the mountain.
