Another incredible day here in Camp Zama, Japan.
Who can boast a day of early morning training, a private meeting with The Army Band, an inside tour of a Blackhawk helicopter, a K9 Unit visit and finally a beer with the Lieutenant Colonel? We can!
It's been a whirlwind day and we are thrilled to be involved in such a fantastic cause.
This year we are joined by Dave and Aimee Nagel who have been total troopers. (No pun intended) They have jumped right into the mix.
Long flights, jet lag and event filled days hasn't stopped Aimee's excitement for a taste of Japanese culture. Last night's trip into the neighboring city of Machido lead us to a restaurant where we placed our unknown order into a machine. Fortunately for us we were helped by Erin, a Chinese girl studying here in Japan. Erin credited her impeccable English to American tv shows which included Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives and Friends. What a perfect way to learn our culture...Maybe not. Regardless, we would have been lost without her.
Tomorrow is our ski day. We are joining 40 Army personnel for a trip to the "Alps of Japan". A 3 am wake-up call will be the beginning of a fantastic day on the slopes. We are looking forward to sharing some turns here in Japan.
Until then,
Ichi Dan!
