More November freshies!!

Is today really the last day of November? It is so hard to believe - the mountain is COVERED and the riding is AMAZING!!! In true November fashion, today was yet another powder day. And not just a powder day, a blue bird powder day.

Happy Powder Day!

It's deep, it's light, it's my birthday!

In my 12 years living here in the 'Boat, I do not think I've ever had such nice gifts as what I'm blessed with today. It's officially the first powder day of the season, we have 12 PLUS inches of snow here, and I've been getting face shots every run.

A Nod To Buddy

Steamboat tradition states that a quick tap on the head of the Buddy Werner statue at the top of Storm Peak is how we say "thanks" for our great snow and ensure more snow to come. Well... I must have tapped Buddy on the head at least 5 times this holiday weekend!

New terrain and sunny skies

I am reminded today that I most certainly reside in Ski Town USA. Being that it's Saturday, there are groups on the mountain today of eager Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes of all ages, sliding methods, and abilities. You can be quite sure that there is a future Olympian or two in those groups.

Give Thanks for Blue Skies and Corduroy

Good morning Steamboat! Yesterday we woke up to freshies and Champagne Powder on Opening Scholarship Day, and this morning we awoke to frigid temperatures and bluebird skies. There are always two bonuses to below zero temps: It's usually warmer at the top of the mountain, and the snow is our favorite 'hero corduroy.'

Biggest Opening Day in Over A Decade

You read that right, Steamboat is getting ready to usher in its biggest Opening Day on Wednesday, November 24th with 5 chairlifts, 926 acres and 66 trails, including a ton of legendary tree skiing terrain.

Who's Ready For Ski Season?

It's only 8 days and a handful of hours away, but Steamboat Ski Resort looks more like its mid-season already with 17 inches of snow falling over the weekend. The resort is has a 28 inch mid-mountain base and 42 inches at the summit.The snow doesn't show signs of stopping and the forecast is calling for more snow through Wednesday with 10-20 inches of accumulation possible at the summit.

Snow, Snow, Snow

It's officially winter in Steamboat. A foot of snow accumulated on the mountain over the past two days and forecasts are calling for more snowfall today and Thursday, with a little break and then a new storm is expected to bring snow over the weekend. We have a 19 inch base at mid-mountain and a 34 inch base at the summit.
