Temps and Flakes are FALLING!

Tele-Talker Amy knew what she was talking about when she said something was blowing in yesterday because today--IT'S HERE! This morning we woke up to two inches of new Spring slush. Though, by the time I was heading down the mountain to come report to the world, a new dusting of powder had already covered the slush and was continuing to fall with increased intensity! Snowbird, Utah got a foot out of this storm, and the weather-people are already… Continue

Easter Breakfast, Brunch and Dinner at The Cabin

Easter is this Sunday so have you thought about your options for a spectacular Easter Breakfast, Brunch and Dinner? I have the perfect suggestion - The Cabin restaurant at The Steamboat Grand. The Cabin will serve up an all you can eat breakfast buffet starting at 7am. You’ll definitely want to get there early as the buffet only lasts until 10:30am!

If 7am’s a little too…

Something's Blowing In...

"In like a lamb, out like a Lion." The old adage rings true again as something closes in on Steamboat today, this last day of March!

I like to ride up Four Points first because it gives me a good idea of what's going on with the day's conditions without committing to a trip to the top of the mountain. Today, I could see the wind was picking up at higher elevations, so…

Tuesday in the park

When the sun comes out and the snow gets a bit slushier, I find myself lapping our terrain parks more often to work on my own progression. Even at 26 years old, I've found the park to be a really fun place for all ability levels but it also requires knowledge and progression to get there.

I headed to Christie Peak Express which has the easiest access to Steamboat's Terrain Parks. From the midway station at Christie, you can lap Lil' Rodeo Terrain Park and if you go to the top of… Continue

Simply delightful!

If you are about to embark on your spring break in Steamboat you should be smiling. Even if you missed Saturday's powder (I did too) the snow here is in sweet shape for the last 14 days of the season. I think we will go out in style!

The sun is already burning off a thin layer of clouds and I think we are in for a sunny day of spring skiing. Although I was bummed to have missed the freshies over the weekend, I was delighted to find nice and…

First Chair to Last Chair

It's one of those magical days in Steamboat. Yesterday, we received over 6 inches of snow. Today, we have blue bird skies, soft bumps and super fast groomers. It's perfect.

Vagabond was fast and soft down to the bumps of Surprise. A few quick turns down Surprise and then up to an incredible view at the top of Storm Peak. The groomed portion of the face was perfect, while the skier's left side had perfect bumps that were…

And Winter is Back!

Riding up the Four Points Lift, I noticed the whiteboard at the top, the statement said it all, "SNOW! AGAIN!" What an unbelievable day up on the mountain. The snow has returned to Steamboat, and what better way to celebrate the return of our good friend, then to get out on the mountain and hit up some freshies.

My runs today were quite a bit different than the usual groomers I've been skiing the last couple of weeks. The snow just seems to bring that out in me. I started out…

Friday Freshies

You know it's going to be a good weekend when it all starts with some fresh snow. I always wake up a little easier when the snow report says there are freshies waiting and still snowing.

Conditions today were definitely better than expected. The groomers are all skiing great with a few inches of fluff on top of perfect corduroy. I almost forgot if it was winter or…

Fast for a Thursday

Today was what I expected from a Thursday morning in late March including one added bonus - I got to ski with some really good people. The sun was out with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature outside was great. It's only going to warm up as the day moves along, and the snow will soften.

The conditions outside kept me from venturing off the groomers, but I had a blast cruising down High Noon, One O Clock and Heavenly Daze. The runs were great. I had an amazing time…

Spring Variety

This spring is turning out to be a season of variety - variety in ski gear, at least. We go from skiing in t-shirts to pulling out the puffy down all in the same week. The storm that blew in Tuesday brought us a short break in our bluebird skies, but the sky is clearing and should stay sunny for the next couple of days.

Another common spring element is wind, which was…

It's snowing in Steamboat!

In case you didn't know...it's SNOWING here in Steamboat! After some Spring weather for the last week or so (warm days, cold nights) it is a very welcome change, and I hope everyone gets to enjoy it. Only 20 more days left to ski/ride this season.

The amazing skills of our grooming crew, the warmer temperatures last night, and the fresh snow…

Spring skiing is for the birds and for me and you too!

You know it's spring when the rubber duckies are spotted at the bottom of Sundown Express lift. I wasn't quick enough to get that photo, yet I do have a few shots to give you the panoramic view of this bluebird day. Speaking of bluebirds, I've seen a few out and about on the mountain, spring is here!

High Noon is not just for getting to Rendezvous for lunch. I highly recommend this run for your warm up on these spring mornings. High Noon gets…

Windy Day in the 'Boat

We're experiencing high winds, which means all lifts at the resort are closed until weather conditions permit. All Ski and Snowboard School lessons have been cancelled for today, but childcare and Kids' Vacation Center are operating indoors.

We want to keep you informed about the mountain's status. The best way to get updates is to follow us on Twitter at @SteamboatInfo or @SkiSteamboat.

If you have questions concerning lift tickets, please contact the Main Ticket Office at…

Scenic Spring Skiing!

Another bluebird day in the 'Boat means another day of corn snow in the morning turning into whipped butter in the afternoon! Who can complain about crystal blue skies matched with ideal spring conditions and majestic scenery?!!

I made my way up Storm Peak Express and was greeted by Buddy's Run's still-powderey corduroy conditions. The temps were already warming which was evident by the plethora of jet streams in the sky.…

Sunny Spring Day in Steamboat

Good morning! Looks like it's going to be a beautiful spring day here in Steamboat...brilliant blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Spring Break is in full effect here at the resort, with plenty of skiing/riding, as well as activities for the kids at the base of the gondola.

Did a little bit of everything today. The groomers were riding smooth and fast today, as is typical when the weather is warm during the day and then gets a bit…

Blue sky here again

Waking up, still dragging a bit from the time change, we gazed up at a cloud hiding the ski area. However, clouds can play tricks on you for just a short lift ride up a bluebird sky awaits!

Here's are a couple photos just to show you that you cannot always make the call on the weather from your window. It may look cloudy from the condo, yet up above 9,000 feet we are basking in the glory of Colorado's famous blue sky!…

Spring Forward!

Spring Forward!

It's that time of the year- our clocks more forward, weather is

unpredictable and the wind tends to move a little faster. All three

happened this morning as skiers in Steamboat slept in. Not sure if it

was the time change or a Bud Light Rocks the Boat reggae hang-over that

kept skiers and riders in bed.

What are the conditions like on the hill? Spring like over the past few

days with plenty of sunshine. The groomers are soft and… Continue

March means POWDER!

Not many people realize that very often March can be one of our biggest snow months of the season. I believe that today's conditions were no exception! As I approached the Gondola to make my way up the mountain, the first thing I noticed was the layer of Champagne graciously dusting the shoulders of the Billy Kid statue. Not to mention the dime-sized flakes falling out of the sky. This was a spot-on indication of what was waiting for me at the top of Storm Peak!…

What'cha Gonna Do, Sun?

Even if the sun is indecisive today, I am not. I knew from the time I rolled out of bed that this was going to be a cruiser day. A cruiser day to do 'chill' runs, where I can stretch out in a comfortable position and watch the slope unfold in front of me. I could almost imagine sipping a cup of coffee while I cruise on down...

The beautiful, warm weather we are having this week…

Bye Clouds, Hello Sun!

If you happened to be in Steamboat this morning, you wouldn't have been able to see the top or even midway up the mountain due to the cloud coverage overhead. But the best news of today was that the upper mountain, in fact just halfway up up the gondola was bluebird skies. The clouds were wearing off quickly as the morning progressed and by the time I made it back down the mountain, it was mostly blue skies surrounding Steamboat.

In the past… Continue
