I have a new service in Steamboat now called Have A Dinner Date. It is a babysitting service in your hotel room. I am just starting out (but have plenty of experience) so I don't contract out babysitters. I do all the work myself. This makes my ra...
Yes - you can walk to the market (it is more like a market/deli/bakery/liquor store) and very convenient. It is about a block away. There is a Safeway and a City Market about a mile away as well - the free bus can take you there too.
Thanks for the info! We wound up getting a 1br at Trappeurs Crossing. Is the grocery store walkable from there? It really doesn't matter as the shuttle service is so good.Just wondering..
Glad you had such a great experience at The Lodge! Disclaimer - we own a unit there. But the reason we ended up buying was because we had rented there for many years and found it to be convenient, comfortable, and staffed by some of the friendlies...
Agree completely with you Marlene! Saddleback was a ton of fun! We were a party of 14 ranging in ages from 6-80 years old and everyone enjoyed themselves! It was a very memorable experience!
Just returned from a 5 night stay and would highly recommend The Lodge at Steamboat. We are a family of four, we had a 2br/2ba condo and found the unit to be spacious and the proximity to the slopes and market great! The units decor is dated - but...
Just returned from Steamboat and have to agree La Montana was horrible. The food was nasty, the service s- so and VERY EXPENSIVE!! After coming highly recommended from others it was really disappointing! We had so many good meals in Steamboat - La...
Hi! My very favorite babysitter of all time is a great local girl named Kendra Finch. Her cell number is 970-819-0771. Being only 20, she does have an active social calender, so call her as early as you can. Also there is a really nice Swedish girl living in town thru the end of Feb. Her name is Jessica Berglund. She has only babysat for us a few times, but we will definitely have her back again. Her number is 970-819-2059. I am not sure how she would be for a group as large as yours, but Kendra could handle 6 kids with ease. She worked at a local daycare, and last summer she was a camp counselor for kids ages 3-12 up on the ski mountain. She's been with us since our oldest - now 4 and a half - was only 3 months old, and she has 3 older siblings and 3 younger siblings. There is another girl, too, named Tonia Brisson, but I can't think of her number at the moment. She teaches in the kids' ski school (KVC) and is also a camp counselor in the summer. Really sweet girl who my kids adore. You can call me if you have any questions or concerns...my home number is 970-736-2729 and my cell (don't get cell service at my house, tho...boo!) is 970-846-8855.
Good luck and have fun!

Kendra came to a dinner party that Laura's family attended at my condo two years ago and she was great with my boys who were 4 & 6 at the time. We bring a baby sitter with us so I haven't had to use any of Laura's contacts but I wouldn't hesitate at all to use anyone she recommends.
By the way, Laura is a fabulous ski coach too. My family books her for the week when we are there. I wouldn't think of venturing out with my kids without her. And on "just me" days we have a terrific time just careening around the mountain slopes like kids on bikes. The fall line-time, tips and lift rides are priceless. Worth every penny and then some.

i think we are going to the Sheraton for the Christmas buffet. Others have suggested the Ore House, Cafe Diva alos. Yes book ahead of time. thats what i will be doing next week.
Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.
Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December.
Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.
I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast?
Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?
