Today could be tricky to arrange a meet up (with the Powder and then we have a few things to do afterwards), BUT we plan to be around Morningside again most of the morning (the Morningside face, the liftine and Snooze Bar) - I assume that we will be over there from about 9.30/10am onwards. If you are over there, and you can spot us (from the photos), that would be great to meet up.
Otherwise maybe we could meet another day? I think that powder days are a lot less "predictable" or easy to schedule something than groomer days (we tend to get sidetracked/lost/waylaid a lot more on powder days).
Is there anything notable about your and your wife's ski wear, so that I can look out for when we are over on Morningside? Both husband's and my jackets are reen. I have a black helmet and goggles with sparkly crystals on the side.
Sorry to have missed you today - Morningside was closed for quite a bit of this morning, so we stayed on Sunshine. My boots were also playing up badly, so (mixed with the rather "cement powder" conditions) we had a pretty short day again. After spending some considerable hours trying to get boot problems solved, this afternoon, am hoping for a more comfortable day's skiing tomorrow.
Let me know when you will be back on the mountain: hopefully we ca arrange to meet up.
Hello, sorry, missed this message this morning :-(. Was too busy trying to get my overdue blog online. Probably would have been a bad idea, anyway, with my dodgy boots. They actually skied ok today, but it was hard to forecast that before skiing on them.
How about 9.30am at the top of the Thunderhead Lift (well near the ski racks which are on the right as you get off of the lift)?
Skiing was great today - we had a very good one: nic elong ay in the sun and my boots didn't hurt. We took it easy - lots of nice cruisey blues - and it was a perfect day for that.
Dominic (close :-) ).. It is great that you got you problem fixed. We headed down to the Thunderhead lift, after you left, and up for a lunch break at Stokers.
We are around until the 18th, so just let me know if you two are available for a few more runs or a drink: would be great to catch up again. Hopefully a few more Bluebird days before we leave.
Have been talking to Trudy - who arrives Thursday evening - and we are trying to arrange to meet up for Apres Ski drinks at about 4.30/5pm, probably Slopeside Grill. Would Shannon be able to make that? We are tring to get some other forum people together as well.
Well the auto-tipping thing at Old West is the first time we have experienced it either here or elsewhere in the US (and we spend quite a lot of time here). I think that British tourists are probably quite famous for not tipping (probably the Australians even more so - since there culture is even less tip-oriented than the UK)... but I don't think that is a good excuse for doing it. Otherwise the meal was good :-)
The slopes are in good shape now - nice fast, but firm groomers. Supposed to be really quite windy today, though: so am not sure how far up the mountain we will get (Sunshine Peak in high winds can be a bit "bracing".
Let me know about Friday, if that doesn't suit you both, we will arrange something else :-)
Am not exactly sure... am guessing 8 to 10: you, Shannon, Trudy, live2ski, Dominic and me, possibly SteamboatRider (Paul) and his wife (Louise), possibly Rick (if he can get up to Steamboat - a big maybe), possibly Kent and maybe Julie. There are quite a few "maybes" there!
I have said 4.30pm, how prompt people are, I don't know. A table would be really good, if possible (I know how crowded/busy Slopeside gets). Could maybe go for 6 to 8 and see how many turn up? Could always find more chairs perhaps?
Knee has been a bit dodgy, but we have got some good runs in: today was lovely.
Hope that your new house is truly wonderful (but I bet it is): must be a very exciting time :-). Saturday sounds good, we can talk about it on Friday.
i think we are going to the Sheraton for the Christmas buffet. Others have suggested the Ore House, Cafe Diva alos. Yes book ahead of time. thats what i will be doing next week.
Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.
Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December.
Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.
