Hi!

Latest Activity

Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December. Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.

Very nice indeed. I hope it doesn't make it more crowded in the lower areas?

It's here! Loved waking up to snow this morning and it's still dumping snow on the mountain!

I woke up today and it was 51 degrees this morning. Definitely too warm but hopefully soon, we're supposed to get a storm tonight. Here's a good article to check out about late openings and how much snow we get. There is definitely enough snow i...

Boo, we are going to tour some of the rentable One Steamboat whole ownership units while we are there in mid January. I'll take lots of pictures. I can't promise a Boo-style blog but maybe I can give you some vicarious happiness.

Thank you very much! :-) Looking good (LOTS of progress): I imagine that the character of the base area will have changed quite a lot since last season. I am just very sad that we will not make it to Steamboat, this year, to check out the changes...

To all the guests who were curious about access to and from the Snowflower condos the 13th photo is a shot from the snow through One Steamboat Place to the Snowflower and then a few more steps to the Highmark at Apre ski rd.

Thanks for sharing this. I'll bet their working hard to get things done before it starts dumping!

The World of Snowboarding Through Fembot Eyes

I run my own snowboard blog/site www.shayboarder.com, which features snowboarding, articles on the industry, product reviews, industry interviews and resort reviews.

I spend 100+ days on snow around Colorado and write up about every day I ride. Just another girl on the mountain, living the resort town life and out on the snow testing products and writing about it.

Touring the new base area developments

Last week I had the opportunity to do a tour of the new One Steamboat Place and Wildhorse Gondola that will now be adjoining our base area at the mountain. Jim Schneider in charge of Skier Services was on hand to give me the full tour and what the base will soon look like as the project gets closer to completion. You can read the full press release on the improvements here.

It's a snowy day in Steamboat

Winter arrived early in Steamboat and delivered a taste of what's to come this winter. Most of today the snowflakes were falling in town and we received a couple inches on top of Thunderhead. Sign Shop Steve who works at the top of Thunderhead went outside to snap some winning photos of the beautiful white backdrop covering our mountain.

It won't be much longer till the runs are covered and our beautiful mountain town is like a snow globe.

Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.

Hard to predict of course but history is on your side. Be glad you didn't plan a trip around opening day at Vail today. They've got only one run open.

I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast? Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?

I agree with the balaclava. If your boys are going to wear helmets, which they should, then you can buy a nice under helmet hat/balaclava, a must in Steamboat. The key to keeping warm on the mountain is layers. (and toe warmers!)

I ski with my boys every January in Steamboat (now 10 & 8) and they wear the whole kit every day since they stay up top most the whole day ... base layer top and bottom, fleece top (& bottom if it's Arctic cold), and down jacket. They used to wear...

Actually, we may book the Ore House, having had a vote from the children! We skied a couple of years ago at Christmas and it was very cold. Usually we go in March. Thermals are a definite, if it's really cold I'll make the children wear a long sle...
