Good idea, Patti! We will be out approx. Dec. 19 -- Jan 2, and I see posts from folks coming our about the same time. How about shooting for Dec. 26? Maybe either at lunch time on the mountain or at Slopeside or Tugboat apres?
Both Tugboat and Slopeside should be going strong this year. It really looks like nothing will happen to the Tugboat location probably for several years. According to the Pilot, Slopeside is on the market but not mention of any plans to close. I'm...

- Nice stern squirt there in that last pic. My wife/I learned at the Nantahala and spent the most time recently at the Ocoee in TN; we lived about 35 mins away. The south has such awesome rivers and prettyimportantly to me, warm rivers :)

- I don't know her last name, but we did run into another full-summer Ocoee kayaker named Jamie. She's an awesome playboater and fun to watch throwing moves @ Hell Hole on the Ocoee (right under the bridge) or or the "C" hole here in the 'boat. I think she's some kind of hydrologist (studies rivers).

i think we are going to the Sheraton for the Christmas buffet. Others have suggested the Ore House, Cafe Diva alos. Yes book ahead of time. thats what i will be doing next week.
Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.
Hard to predict of course but history is on your side. Be glad you didn't plan a trip around opening day at Vail today. They've got only one run open.
Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December.

I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast?
Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?
I agree with the balaclava. If your boys are going to wear helmets, which they should, then you can buy a nice under helmet hat/balaclava, a must in Steamboat. The key to keeping warm on the mountain is layers. (and toe warmers!)
