Steamboat Closes Ski Season in Style

It’s that time of year again, as Steamboat begins transitioning from Ski Town, USA to Bike Town, USA. Closing day, Sunday April 14, is only a few days away. We have had a great winter here in Steamboat with the snowfall surpassing the yearly average by more than a foot and a half. As sad as it is to see the winter come to an end, there is no better way to celebrate a fantastic winter than Steamboat’s Springalicious Festival. This year the festival will include two events on Saturday, the 33rd…See More

Once again, this year we will have some amazing free shows in Gondola Square. You can find the full schedule of concerts here!It doesn’t get much better than skiing or riding in the morning, and then enjoying a cold beverage as you bask in the warm afternoon…See More

February Brings Snow and Smiles to Steamboat

With February coming to an end, and spring skiing just around the corner, base depth is on the mind of many skiers and riders across Colorado. Steamboat is proud to claim the number 4 spot in overall base depth for the state, with the three resorts above Steamboat on the leader board all located in Southwest Colorado. So far this season, Steamboat has accumulated 270” of Champagne Powder ® snow with snow falling 20 days in February, 10 of which were powder days. The copious amounts of snow have…See More

Steamboat’s 100th Annual Winter Carnival

This year the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club will be celebrating 100 years of winter tradition with the annual Winter Carnival being held February 6-10. Since the inception of the Winter Carnival in 1914, the event has been held annually, making it the oldest, continuous winter carnival west of the Mississippi. The festivities include ski jumping competition, street events, the Diamond Hitch Parade with the skiing high school band, and the night extravaganza consisting of fireworks and my…See More

A December to Remember in Steamboat

December has come and gone in what seemed like the blink of an eye, but the fruits of Mother Nature remain. This December was one for the record books, with over 100” of snowfall for the month landing it the 6th deepest December on record. With Champagne Powder ® snow falling what seemed like daily, powder hounds like me were waiting for the gondola to open each morning, with hopes of getting to their favorite runs as ski patrol dropped the ropes for the season. I was fortunate enough to enjoy…See More

Winter is on its way!

Take a look at what I woke up to this morning …Isn’t that just amazing!  With summer and fall being such gorgeous times to be in Steamboat and Routt County, it’s tough this time of year knowing that winter is soon to follow.  But seeing all the snow this morning was just the reminder I needed on why I moved to Steamboat in the…See More

Hanging poolside at The Steamboat Grand …

With Thursday being such an absolutely gorgeous day and temperatures reaching 80 degrees, I figured there’s no place better to spend the afternoon than poolside at the hotel – definitely a much better choice than in my office!  So while my boss was in a meeting that afternoon, I shut the door to my office, grabbed my shades and headed to the pool.  One delicious grilled shrimp Caesar salad and a “few” fresh margaritas from the Poolside Bistro later and all my worries magically disappeared! …See More

What Mothers Really Want for Mother’s Day …

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 8th.  Deciding on a gift for your Mom can be difficult at best.  If you haven’t decided how you’re going to celebrate your Mom for Mother’s Day, then I hope this blog can provide some insight to just exactly what a Mother really wants for Mother’s Day.  Since my kids are of the four-legged variety, I decided to go straight to the source to get some advice on just what is the ideal Mother’s Day.  I turned to my friends who are Moms and, of course, my own Mom. …See More

St. Patrick’s Day and more in the ‘Boat …

St. Patrick’s Day is this Thursday and if you’re looking for some great Irish grub, then look no further.  The Cabin restaurant is featuring a traditional Irish dinner with, of course, corned beef and cabbage.  There’s also Irish stew, shepherd’s pie and homemade soda bread on the menu.  Hmm … hmm … I can’t wait for Thursday!  But you can’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day without Guinness beer and The Cabin will be offering Guinness specials all night long!  The Cabin is located lobby level of The…See More

Mardi Gras in Steamboat …

Growing up not far from New Orleans I always thought the best and only place to celebrate Mardi Gras was, of course, in New Orleans.  However, this year, I’m celebrating Mardi Gras in true Steamboat fashion – a five-day celebration including free concerts, a parade, Cajun BBQ, beer festival, food and drink specials, carnival activities, contests and much, much more.  And the celebration kicked off today with the Bud Light Rocks the Boat FREE concert featuring the amazing and unbelievably…See More
