First Tracks on December 21
The snow here in Steamboat is spectacular! We've already surpassed 3.5 metres, nearly half of our annual snowfall average of 8.5 meters, and it's not yet Christmas. I've been lucky enough to log 12 days on the mountain on my snowboard already. It's looking like a BIG Steamboat winter!

When a day exceeds expectations...
Okay, so my out-the-window weather report showed thick gray clouds and sideways snow, perhaps not the most appealing start for an on-mountain lunch break. James and I had made a plan, though, and I did not want to disappoint. And what a treat! The grooming report indicated Ted's Ridge for a steep smooth first run off the Gondola, and it was lovely, despite zero visibility.
