we have no dh/freeride trails in Steamboat. All trails are multi use and multi directional which basiclly creates an unsafe situation for all users when the resort is selling lift tickets to people so they can ride their bikes downhill. i would sugg…

Hi Evan, The only changes likely to be live for your period are the incidental beetle-kill remediation that is going on around the mountain. What that means is that some trails might have detours if we're doing logging to pull down/out the dead tre…

Hi Evan, I'll post back on this either later today or tomorrow after I hear back from our Mtn Ops/MTB'ing folks. One likely change is that the snow will be gone on Pete's Wicket Trail ;)

Hi James,

Thanks for your reply. I always get nervous about the snow but I'm never disappointed! I never saw the billboard you're referencing but I drive through Virginia Highlands all the time. I doubt you miss Atlanta too much. It sounds like you love it at Steamboat. We went to Winter Park last year and I'm hoping Steamboat will be even better!!! Be well and Merry Christmas.

Any talk or discussion if SB will again offer the before x-mas 'ski free' (limited free lift tickets with paid lodging) promotion this coming December.

James, take a peak at Sean Nalette's page. He might be a good one to add to your featured members. He's really getting after the blog bit.

Can you add the Men's and Women's Club program to this site somewhere. I'm super stoked on it and would love to get it out in all formats. It's going to be awesome for all our guests.

It's fun to watch the good ones at Hell Hole and at C-Hole. C-Hole was romping when I was there in June. (Great water year on the Yampa -- we saw a 14 foot raft trying to surf C-Hole do a complete end over end flip, sending swimmers everywhere and landing upright). Being old and stuff I don't play much. My line at Hell Hole is avoidance -- river left eddy, then ferry below for Powerhouse ledge. Even at big levels, C-Hole is nicely punchable near the river right bank. I've played there a bit (if you could call my tentative surfing/spin attempts real play moves) at it at lower levels, but at the levels this summer, I just couldn't get up the nerve. D-Hole would've been fun, but no eddy service at those levels.

More or less a wide open mountainside but it is a ton of terrain considering there was none there previously with the exception of two narrow runs. Hopefully someone else from resort can shed light on future plans but I have heard a new lift comes i…

So will this add new trails or just wide open mountainside? What lift would service the area? I do agree that Steamboat is not the best mountain for beginners so anything to help add more green runs would be a great thing!

The best time to buy your lift tickets is in June early booking is never early enough, really. But airfare wise, if you start too early you can be really gouged by the airlines. My January trip was booked in June and I've seen up to $200 per ticket…
