My favorite is Trappeurs. It's close enough to walk in your street clothes, but in your ski gear. For ski days, we take the private shuttle. It has nice, clean and well stocked rooms, a friendly community room with at least one complimentary meet ...

You can't beat Bear Claw .They have a pool, hot tubs, sauna and are located on Headwall.Real ski-in ski-out with friendly service.

There are pools (open in the ski season) at Evergreens, Waterstone.

We have a place at The Lodge at Steamboat and really love it there. The management (Steamboat Resorts) is top notch and everyone is very nice that works there too. There is a shuttle that runs all the time so you don't have to hike to the hill. It...

We rented and stored our skis for free at the Sportstalker. Dave you also asked about ski in ski out. We normally ski at Crested Butte, where you can truly ski in and ski out. And you don't have to worry so much about storage. As far as ski in ski...

There are also some lodging props at the base that offer free ski check. I know for sure The Grand does.
March 11
Some rental facilities at the base do offer overnight ski check. Depending on the ages of kids, the little kid ski school also does overnight ski check.

No that is not my point. Loved SB,but this is the suggestion area isnt it?
March 11
So your point is that you'd rather ski at DV than SB because of free ski check?

The Phoenix is very convient, just a short walk and then ski down to Gondi, really close to Mountain store, & Terry Sports and has heated pool and hot tubs. Shuttle bus & on city bus line.

Just got back from Deer Valley and the ski check is great. You never have to hall your skis back and forth to the car or condo. Great when you got kids.

The Lodge is very convenient. Not technically ski in-ski out, but literally across the street from the gondola. Quite walkable, but The Lodge also runs a continuous shuttle. Has heated pool (though certainly not hot - the kids go in while I watch)...

If you are looking for ski-in/ski-out Steamboat Lodging Properties has both a one bedroom and two bedroom condo at Storm Meadows Club B. The complex also has a pool, hot tub and work-out room along with a shuttle to the base.
March 11
The Lodge or the Phoenix would also fit your requirements.

One of the properties that is near Gondola Square and meets all of your requirements is The Steamboat Grand. They also have a ski and boot storage area near the Gondy for guests and owners. I also have a place at the Rockies and it is on the free...

Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.

Hard to predict of course but history is on your side. Be glad you didn't plan a trip around opening day at Vail today. They've got only one run open.

Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December. Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.

I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast? Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?

I agree with the balaclava. If your boys are going to wear helmets, which they should, then you can buy a nice under helmet hat/balaclava, a must in Steamboat. The key to keeping warm on the mountain is layers. (and toe warmers!)

I ski with my boys every January in Steamboat (now 10 & 8) and they wear the whole kit every day since they stay up top most the whole day ... base layer top and bottom, fleece top (& bottom if it's Arctic cold), and down jacket. They used to wear...
