Sniffin’ Out Safety….. During the Spring Ski Season

It has been a great winter filled with lots of incredible snowstorms, but the weather conditions are definitely changing. Even with some snow storms on the radar, I think it’s safe to say it’s officially spring in Steamboat. It’s really easy during the spring to throw all your cares away and just soak up the sun; but I’m here…See More

Sniffin’ Out…. The Backcountry

Like most of you, I love a good powder stash. I’ll follow my nose to the fresh, light, fluffy stuff every chance I get. But I also have learned the hard way that sometimes this approach doesn’t always lead to the best place to be. I’ve been almost everywhere on the mountain and even though I’m extremely comfortable in snow, I know there are places I shouldn’t go.Even though the resort has backcountry access gates, you need to know the terrain and be knowledgeable about skiing out of bounds…See More

Sniffin' Out Safety.... During Safety Awareness Week

This is my absolute favorite week of the year. Better than Christmas, Fourth of July, or the annual bone digging contest in August. This week is National Safety Awareness Week. It’s funny because really EVERY DAY is safety awareness day at Steamboat, but this is a special week where we go all out to make sure everyone knows the safety efforts of the resort. Starting tomorrow Gondola Square turns into Safety Central where guests can participate in programs, demonstrations and contests, as well…See More

Sniffin' Out Safety.... In The Terrain Park

Mavericks Superpipe is scheduled to open today, so I thought it was a great time to chat about Terrain Park safety. I may not be one of those young pups who goes big or goes home, but I like my playtime in the parks.I’m always impressed by how respectful and courteous skiers and riders who play in Steamboat’s four parks are. I think it’s because of the Smart Style Program and Steamboat’s own ParkWise program. Have you heard of these? If you’ve been in one of our parks you’ve probably see the…See More
