"True, Cash. Good points. There is a small chance of precipitation over the next couple of days. I'm sure new snow would be welcomed by all! Thank you for reading!"

Straight Talk 12/17/08

Low temperatures make me think of two things; warm gear and GOOD SNOW! Today I had my fair helping of good snow made all the more enjoyable by the addition of a puffy down jacket under my shell.

I remembered to pick up a grooming report this morning (learned my lesson from last week!) and headed straight to the freshly groomed West Side. I almost mean literally "straight" over there since I don't think I stopped once along the way. The only sound the air rushing past my ears, I hardly noticed the gorgeous corduroy beneath my feet. Back up and over to Flintlock for more carving goodness, and then -- Rolex. Remember the good snow in the cold? The bumps on Rolex were soft and oh-so-fun!

Now I need to give credit where credit is due. The snow is extremely good today and the continued cold and snow in the forecast is only going to make it better, but something significant has changed with my skiing. Every day that I ski I hope that the next time I will be a better skier, so I make sure to take ski clinics at least once a year. Last week I was able to take the "Free-Heel Friday" telemark clinic and it has bumped me a notch on the "skill" level. Throw in today's perfect conditions and I feel like a rock star.

THIS JUST IN: Morningside lift is scheduled to open this weekend!! I hope to see you there!

Straight Talk 03-4-09 - Women's Ski Seminar

I had to see what all the excitement was about for myself - this year celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Women's Ski Camp with Deb Armstrong, and I have heard they have the most return attendees of any of our clinics. Hosted by former Olympian Deb Armstrong, the three-day seminars include breakfast, First Tracks, lunches at Hazie's, apres wine and cheese, plus small class sizes and certified female coaches. No wonder they are so popular!

Thanks Amy - it's easy to say good things when you've had a good experience. My only concern before coming was that my partner might not enjoy skiing - with the excellent training we had, he loved it.
