Type in the text exactly as you see it in the image on the right (called a CAPTCHA). Click the "Sign Up" button to join My.Steamboat! By signing up, you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which you can read by clicking on the links next to them.

Update your profile photo

To change your profile photo on My.Steamboat, first sign in. Then click the "Settings" link in the upper right corner of the page: Now click on the photo icon next to "Profile Photo." A small window will pop open. Click the "Browse" button under "Upload a photo from your computer." Locate an image on your computer and click "Done." When you upload a new photo, the old one will be deleted.

Choose the privacy settings for your My.Steamboat profile

You have the freedom to choose who can see your profile in My.Steamboat. To do so, sign in and click "Settings" at the top-right of the page. Then click "Privacy Settings" in the left column. Set your desired visibility settings for each option listed. You can choose from "Anyone", "Members of my social networks", "Just my friends" or "Just me".

Editing your "MyPage"

You can edit the formatting on your "My Page" by simply doing a click, hold and drag on the text box that you want to move. For example, if you want to move your Profile Information box up to the top of your page simply click the Profile Information box, hold it and drag it to where you want it to be.

Invite people to your social network

The most direct way to get people to join My.Steamboat is to invite them! Just sign in and go to the Invite tab to let your friends know about your social network. You can invite your friends from across the My.Steamboat, manually type in email addresses, or import your contacts from Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, AOL, or your computer's address book. There are three options for inviting your friends from this page.

Enter Email Addresses: If you have a particular set of email addresses you want to send invites to, you can manually enter them in this section.

Enter multiple email addresses into the "Send To" field, or click "Add Friends" to invite friends already on Ning. Import from Web Address Book: Just type in the address and the password for an email account on AOL Mail, Gmail by Google, Yahoo! Mail or Hotmail — you'll immediately be able to invite any of your contacts to your social network. Import from Address Book Application:

You can also upload a .vcf or .csv contact file from services like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Address book. You'll be able to invite any contacts on this list to your social network.

Join a group on My.Steamboat

To join an existing group, go to the Groups tab. Once you find your departments group, click on its title. If the group is public, there will be a link in the top right of the page to join the group. If the group is private, you can apply to join the group from the group's page.

Invite people to your group

To spread the word about your group, invite people to attend it! You can invite people by typing in email addresses, selecting from your list of friends across Ning, importing your web address book, or importing from an address book application. If you're the Group leader, you can also invite all members of your social network to the group. To invite people to a group, go to the group's page and click the "Invite More People" link. People will need to join the My.Steamboat in order to join the group.

Participate in the My.Steamboat forum

An easy way to start participating on your social network is to check out the discussion forum. You can interact with other members here. To use the forum, just go to the Forum tab. Check out the existing discussions, or start your own by clicking the "Start Discussion" link. If you find an interesting discussion you'd like to participate in, just type your reply in the "Reply" box. Once you've added your reply, it will appear at the bottom of the discussion thread, so scroll down to see it. If the forum is threaded, you can also reply directly to someone else's reply on a discussion thread. Just click the "Reply to this" link under any post and a reply box will pop open. To maintain the integrity of discussions and replies, we allow members to edit forum replies for 15 minutes. We think this is enough time to correct a typo, while ensuring that people don't "rewrite history." We do, however, let members delete their own posts or discussions they've started at any time.

Follow a discussion on the forum

If you find an interesting forum discussion you'd like to keep track of, you can use the built-in feature to follow it. When you follow a discussion, you'll receive an email whenever there is a new reply to the discussion. This email notification will contain a link to the new reply. By default, you'll automatically follow all discussions you start or reply to. This is a great way to stay on top of the discussion and make sure you see all replies. To follow a discussion, go to the thread or post's page and click the link to "Follow - Email me when people reply." If you're already following a discussion and would like to stop doing so, this link will appear as "Stop Following". Click that to stop receiving email notifications about new replies to the discussion.

Upload photos to My.Steamboat from your computer

The easiest way to add photos is to with the bulk media uploader. Using the bulk media uploader, you can add up to 100 photos at a time. The following formats are supported: .jpg, .png, and .gif. To upload photos, go to the Photos tab and click the "Add Photos" link. Then, just click the "Click to Add Photos" icon to select which images you'd like to upload from your computer. If you want to select multiple photos at a time, just hold down the "Control" or "Command" key on your keyboard and click the extra photos. Photos you've chosen to upload will display as a list on your social network. After you add one batch, you can add even more photos to the list with the "Add More" link, and remove some using the "X" link to the right of each photo. Once you're ready to upload, click the "Upload" button. Once you’ve uploaded your photos, you’ll be able to create a new album for them or assign your photos to an existing album you’ve created.

To add a Title, Description, and Tags for each photo, you can click the "Add more details for these photos" link. When you're done, click "Save" if you've added more information. You can also click "My Photos" to immediately start browsing your newly uploaded photos.

If you're experiencing issues with the bulk uploader, you can always use the simple uploader by clicking the "simple uploader" link at the bottom of the page.

Who can see my photos?

If you want to change the privacy setting on a specific photo, sign in to the My.Steamboat and go to the photo detail page. Click the "Edit Photo" link underneath the photo: Then select the new privacy setting you would like and click "Save Changes." Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.

Hard to predict of course but history is on your side. Be glad you didn't plan a trip around opening day at Vail today. They've got only one run open.

Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December. Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.

I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast? Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?

I agree with the balaclava. If your boys are going to wear helmets, which they should, then you can buy a nice under helmet hat/balaclava, a must in Steamboat. The key to keeping warm on the mountain is layers. (and toe warmers!)

I ski with my boys every January in Steamboat (now 10 & 8) and they wear the whole kit every day since they stay up top most the whole day ... base layer top and bottom, fleece top (& bottom if it's Arctic cold), and down jacket. They used to wear...

Actually, we may book the Ore House, having had a vote from the children! We skied a couple of years ago at Christmas and it was very cold. Usually we go in March. Thermals are a definite, if it's really cold I'll make the children wear a long sle...
