It’s less than 100 days until the Winter Olympics and the anticipation is starting to grow. Did you know that Steamboat Springs has sent more athletes to the Winter Olympics than any other town in North America? Our little town gets behind athletes at a young age and works to develop them into the best.
It’s an average day in Steamboat when you bump into a current or former Olympian. You can easily ski with Billy Kidd or Nelson Carmichael. Check the sign at the top of the gondola to see if Billy is skiing. And you can meet Nelson for a free mogul clinic on Nelson’s Run on select Sundays.
It’s become a Steamboat tradition to celebrate and send athletes off to the Olympics. This Jan. 27, we’ll light the Community Cauldron and celebrate the accomplishments of our local athletes at our Olympian Send Off. There will be fireworks, music and other surprises at the base of Steamboat mountain. There will likely be other Olympic announcements as winter gets going. Keep an eye on the Event Calendar for more fun things.
Have a good weekend. It will be snowing in Steamboat.
