Steamboat resident Jennifer Shea will fill the role of sales director for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation and the Steamboat Grand Hotel, effective Monday, Dec. 5, 2016.
“Jenn’s strong background in sales and her in-depth knowledge of the Steamboat community and beyond make her an ideal addition to our sales and marketing team,” said Katie Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “We look forward to her fresh perspective, extensive sales background and hands-on attitude to build on the success of the sales and marketing teams at the resort and hotel.”
As the director of sales for the ski resort and the Steamboat Grand, Shea will design and implement sales strategies on local, regional and national levels for multiple channels, including tour operators, wholesalers, travel agents, lodging properties and special campaigns. Her role will also develop pricing and products, oversee the group and conference programs, and manage the sales teams for the resort and hotel with the ultimate goal of generating sales to destination guests from domestic markets.
Prior to joining SSRC, Shea was the national sales manager for Steamboat-based Honey Stinger Energy Foods, where she directed and developed a network of direct sales team members, brokers, key accounts and wholesale distributors domestically and internationally. Other positions held in the Steamboat area include program manager for the Yampa Valley Community Foundation and the marketing and development director for Strings Music Festival. Before moving to Steamboat, Shea worked for Time/Warner in retail sales and marketing for eight years as product manager, brand manager and regional wholesale director before serving as director of sales.
“Steamboat is a premier destination, and I am honored to be able to share my passion and excitement for the resort, hotel and town with guests from around the country,” commented Shea. “The sales teams at the resort and hotel have done an incredible job positioning Steamboat as a world-class destination for groups and events. I’m thrilled to join their efforts and lead this dynamic team.”
Shea holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in business administration and art history from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and has lived in the Yampa Valley for 10 years with her husband and two daughters. An active community member, Shea has served on the Steamboat Springs Chamber marketing committee and 4Yellow Foundation board of directors. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for the Family Development Center, volunteers at the New Frontiers for Girls and Women Event, is a Girl Scout troop leader and a member of Camber (formerly Outdoor Women’s Coalition).
Shea will report to Brown and will be based in the marketing offices in the Gondola Building in Gondola Square.
