Hi there - how can we get the ski school in Steamboat to continue the Desperados Kids programs, when Aussie children are skiing in Steamboat.  It seems that when we all arrive, the weekly children's ski programs stop for the month of January, and re-start when we head home.  The daily classes do not guarantee the same instructor and great program that the Deperados program does.  Thoughts?

Hi Steve!  We look forward to welcoming you back for the holidays.  There are many options for both sleigh rides and skidoos - have you checked out the activities section of the website?  http://www.steamboat.com/things-to-do/winter-activities.aspx  The ski resort will be offering sleigh ride dinners at the Haymaker Golf Cub this winter, and we're very excited about this new off-mountain activity for our guests, and our local partners have great products as well.  Did I help at all?

Happy 50th to the "Boat"!

So looking forwards to taking my family to stay in 2013 - not long now - forget how many sleeps to Christmas - it is how many weeks to ski!

As this is to be a special family trip can anyone suggest the best sleigh ride / skidoo /experiences to book? My son and I can't wait to revisit but this is the first time for my wife and daughters to USA so i want this to be very special - then maybe I can convince them to move to Colorado!

2013 looks pretty likely at this stage and I like the "uprooting" idea at some stage. You all have a great place over there so please keep it going.

Enjoy the rest of the season.

You've made my day, Enrico!  And I know just what you mean about the people here.  I uprooted my life to move here after discovering Steamboat's genuinely friendly charm over 17 years ago, and I cannot imagine calling anywhere else home.  I hope you'll get the chance to visit in a truly stellar snow year - how's 2013 for you?  And in the meantime, there's more snow in the forecast today.

So we just came back from three weeks at Steamboat and I have to honestly say, we had an absolute blast. Yes, the snow was less than stellar for the first week and a bit we were there (on par with a normal Thredbo winter), we got some good dumps the next few days and it was stunning.

We had a blast. We rode, skied, tubed, snowmobiled, sleighed to dinner, shopped, ate, and lived. But the best thing of all were the people. I can honestly say I have never met such a bunch of good, happy, helpful and appreciative people. And it says a lot about a place where so many of its people "came for the winter or summer" and 6, 10, 17, 23 years later, still there.

We love this place and we will be back again and again and again. Guess it is "the Yampa Valley curse".

Thank you Steamboat. See you very soon.

Hi Steve - it's a beautiful bluebird day today in Steamboat, and I get to go snowboarding on my lunch break later.  Wish you were here!  And thanks for the tip - I've not yet tried the Ghost Ranch crab cakes, but I will.

It's been just on a year since my first visit to Steamboat - so to cheer up I visit the site - check out webcams and see  the latest great photo that Larry Pierce has shot - it brings it back so vividly! Weirdest thing when staying there at our timeshare (The Village) was meeting 3 other Aussies in the pool - all from suburbs immediately around mine on the central coast! Small world -

To anyone lucky enough to be there - have some crab cakes at the Ghost Ranch for me, then see if Easy Peaces (not a typo) are playing at the Arts Depot - fantastic musicians doing Neil Young, C,S,N & Y, Joni Mitchell, The Byrds etc - and of course carve the powder!

Hey Dee, Snow was great today, started out a little wet, but turned into much nicer snow this afternoon.

It's our first time skiing out outside of Australia & we did our first turns today and it was great, can't compare Steamboat with Aussie resorts at all.

We can't believe our luck getting the best falls in years
